In each episode of Toon Lore Done Right (TLDR), host Dave the Tutor takes a film, tv show, character, or concept in animation to give you a brief yet detailed history on it. As a blerd, anime fan and student of all things animation Dave sparks discussion while giving his personal insight in this bi-weekly show.

Justice League the Animated Series 20th anniversary
Welcome to Toon Lore Done Right! Today, Dave the Tutor dives into the wonderful history of Justice League the animated series. Driven by creative minds like Bruce Timm and the late great Dwayne McDuffie, see how they and the voice talent really brought this classic show to life. With characters like superman, batman, wonder woman, martian man hunter, hawk girl and john stewart green lantern, its difficult to think that this show ever had its struggles. But we see that writing for such an iconic team can be difficult even for the people who had already successfully launched the Batman, superman, batman beyond and static shock animated series.

You can call me Dave the Tutor and today I will be tackling Anime for the first time on the show, Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood! Well almost first, I did already do Cannon Busters, which was made by an African American man who has experience working in anime studios. At any rate, on this episode we dive into the dark, philosophical and action packed world of FMAB. Full Metal Alchemist is one of those anime, along with Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop, that just has a way of connecting to traditionally non-anime watchers. FMAB takes us through an emotional journey of love, loss and sacrifice as the Elric brothers try to find the fabled philosophers stone! You can call me Dave the Tutor and today I have something special! The era of the Disney afternoon in the 90's brought joy o millions of people. Of the many hits from the time, Gargoyles, Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck and more, one of the break out hits was Chip n Dale rescue rangers. With the new animated show and the upcoming film in the works, I wanted to dive back in to a show like this one that is thought fondly of. My friend and I just listened to your podcast. We love it a lot. For most of the episodes you posted I’ve already watched the series, but it’s really cool to hear insiders and learn new things about the series (my favorite episodes so far are Kipo, Avatar the Last Airbender and Hair Love). I just wanted to say that we really enjoy what you’re doing and we can’t wait for the next episode!!
