Toque and Trowel: Garden + Kitchen

Toque and Trowel: Garden + Kitchen

What's Toque and Trowel all about? At its heart, it’s about finding resilience and empowerment in everyday actions. I believe that tending a garden can be an act of resistance. Creating nourishing, affordable meals – maybe even using what you've grown or simple, easy to find, budget-friendly ingredients from suppliers of your choice – that's resistance too. And maybe most important... protecting your mental well-being, especially when life feels overwhelming, you're burnt out, or just really busy? That's absolutely a form of resistance and what we've been exploring on this podcast. We'll be discussing practical ways to do all of this. We'll also be weaving in a focus on supporting Canadian gardeners, producers, and communities, which feels really important to me right now. I'm probably not alone on this. Hosted by Jen deHaan. Core values exercise, and when we feel alone in the struggle

This episode guides you through a meditative exercise that's focused on identifying core values as an anchor during overwhelming times. This week's focus is on overwhelming news. Then, Jen discusses how modern systems deliberately create isolation. We discuss that isolation is structural rather than a personal failing, and that this is itself an act of resistance.
