    Before Star Wars or Star Trek hit the big screen there was Planet of the Apes, A big budget star studded Hollywood Sci- Fi films that changed cinema, make-up effects and the the reputation of science fiction forever

    Based on the brilliant French novel La Planete des Singes by Pierre Boulle (author of The Bridge over the River Kwai, also made into a Hollywood classic) this film adaptation (written by Michael Wilson and the one and only Rod Serling) released in 1968 was such a huge success that it spawned 4 sequels, a live action TV series and an Animated TV series, plus a whole bunch of books, comic books merchandise toys and garbage cans!!! And that's not all, there was a 2001 "remake" and a
    new series of "reboots" starting in 2011.
