EPISODE 177: Clowning: The History of The Worlds Other Oldest Profession With World Renowned Clown and Clown Historian Dott Cotton

EPISODE 177: Clowning: The History of The Worlds Other Oldest Profession With World Renowned Clown and Clown Historian Dott Cotton

    INTERVIEW BEGINS AT : 31:00

Oh Folks.. I am so excited for this show!! What is the history of the art of clowning, and how has it evolved over the years, and why is it different in America, The UK and the rest of the world

The clown can be dated as far back as 2400 BC and has served many roles in different cultures and civilizations, yet, to many, clowns are just silly circus performers, or pantomimist or something to scare the poop out of people with (thank you horror films). But the truth is, clowns serve a far more important role in history.

The amazing Dott Cotton joins us to discuss clowning thru history, and her career as a modern clown. She is a truly gifted performer who, in my opinion perfectly bridges the gap between vintage traditional English music hall clowning and modern entertainment. It is indeed a pleasure and a thrill to welcome her to the show.
