Join Ken Gagne and Sabriel Mastin each week as we review the latest episodes of Star Trek! From Discovery and Picard to Lower Decks and beyond, we analyze how the ongoing missions into Gene Roddenberry's universe fit into a half-century of Trek history and lore.
SNW S1E01: Strange New World
Susan Arendt joins Ken to review the debut episode of Strange New Worlds, featuring Pike, Spock, and Number One!
Picard S2E10: Farewell
Picard's penultimate season closes, with Jean-Luc, Q, and Tallin learning valuable, but bittersweet, lessons.
Picard S2E09: Hide and Seek
Ken and Bri are shocked by the secrets in Picard's childhood, but we're relieved to see Picard, Seven, and the Queen ready to face their fears.
Picard S2E08: Mercy
From ships to 'ships to another Soong turning evil, Bri & Char cover it all!
Picard S2E07: Monsters
This episode is ostensibly about Picard, but Ken and Mark felt Teresa and Tallinn stole the show. We wonder if Voyager's Lt. Ducane has made an appearance, and why Q and Soong are no-shows. There's a lot of ground still left to cover, and not much time!
Picard S2E06: Two of One
Our goodness, can Alison Pill sing!
Have you met Sabriel?
She's basically the Ravenclaw/Hermione ('T)rek friend you always wanted, Ken is Cedric or O. Wood; suddenly, you're a little more or less lonesome being a Slytherin or Gryffindor, Durmstrang or Beauxbatons student etc.
Excellent recaps and analysis
Ken and Sabriel do an incredible job of dissecting each episode of Star Trek: Discovery shortly after it's aired. You can tell they've done their homework when it comes to Trek history and all the connections the show is putting together because if you didn't catch something, never fear — Ken and Sabriel *did* catch it! Their analysis of the show is well thought out and fun. I listen to a few podcasts that talk about Discovery, but this one is by far the most informative and is my favorite.
There are two reasons I like this show. First, it's timely and hits my feed very soon after the episode aired. Also, Ken and Sabriel both bring insight that only two very long-term Trek fans can. The show is quick and sticks to the topic well which I appreciate with all the other shows I listen to. Subscribe!
