EP 41 | Lessons From 19,000km On The Trail. Meet Long Distance Backpacker, The 'Blissful Hiker’
This week we speak with Alison Young, aka the ‘Blissful Hiker’ - a solo long-distance backpacker. At age 58, Alison has trekked some of the world’s hardest, most challenging trails clocking up over 19,000km, across 6 continents. Most of which she has achieved in her 50s, despite suffering from health challenges.
Alison is a professional speaker, professional flutists, a writer, podcaster and has had a successful career as a radio presenter. So it should come as no surprise that she is an incredibly articulate and engaging speaker.
Topics
Insights and life learnings following Alison's years of dedication to long distance hiking
Alison's near-death experience as she almost reached the summit one of the world’s most challenging hikes. And what that has taught her about the importance of quitting
The fascinating science and philosophy of walking
All in all, we are honoured and proud to be able to share this conversation with you, wherever in the world you are listening.

EP 40 | Van Life Africa - Dot Bekker Drove 20,000km Solo in her 60's
This week we sit down to with author and van lifer, Dot Bekker. Between November 2018 and August 2019, Dot traveled from Spain to her hometown in Zimbabwe in an old, self-converted campervan; A 1998 Blue Ford Transit, lovingly named BlueBelle, who also happened to be a 2WD. That’s right, Dot & BlueBelle, against all odds, (slowly) drove 20,000km solo to get 'home to Africa'. And the stories & insights that she shares with us from this trip are truly inspirational.
Dot’s hope is to motivate others to take on challenges and to realise their own potential because as she wrote in her book, ”if an ordinary sixty-year old woman could make something extraordinary happen, then so can you.”
Dot’s Book “Going Home to Africa” is available here: https://amzn.to/3YVVwMx

EP 39 | Bike-Packing from Spain to Asia Solo - Meet Sara Qiu @JourneyfromtheRoad
This week we are chatting with Sara Qiu who, at 31, is travelling on her bike solo, from her hometown in Spain to Asia (where her parents are from).
So far she’s travelled 7,500km across 10 countries. The interesting thing about Sara is her approach to this adventure. She hasn’t set herself a time limit, nor does she have an exact route of destination mapped out. She really is just winging it, learning as she goes and seeing this as a personal journey for growth, both physically and mentally.
In this conversion we talk about her stories from the road but also practical tips & tricks for biting the bullet and getting on the saddle yourself.
It’s also worth mentioning that the last country that Sara travelled through was Turkey where she was hosted by some incredible families along the way. Since the devastating earthquake, Sara is now focusing her time and energy to fundraise €50,000 towards an NGO that is helping the people from both Turkey & Syria.
Let's help Sara, help the people that have shown her kindness on her travels: https://gofund.me/4d58148a

Extra: 🏍 Riding a Motorbike Through Africa - Antonio Cala from Adventure Fix
This is a extention of Ep 37, from our conversation with Antonio Cala. All about his epic motorbike trip through Africa - we hope you enjoy it! If you've missed Ep 37 make sure you dive into that too as it explains why Antonio is the 'most adventurous person we've ever met'! https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/FKuXmnWJCxb
Antonio has spent the last 10 years travelling, on all sorts of adventures but hasn’t been sharing online. He’s often been asked to do talks and podcasts, but it’s only now that he’s beginning to reflect on the last decade and he’s starting to share his story. We are honoured that our podcast is his first!
Antonio Cala, was part of the New Zealand Olympic Swimming Team as a trainer, before giving up his career path to go traveling. He went on to do a decade of full time travel with his wife Amanda to over 150 countries, starting by cycling 25,000 km from California to Patagonia in 3 years. They then lived on a sail boat for 3 years clocking up 20,000 nautical miles around the Caribbean & Mexico. And most recently they rode motorcycles 30,000km from Spain to Cape Town via West Africa.

Favorite Vanlife/Travel Poscast
I fell in love with this podcast from the very first episode I listened to! Tania and Adam share their experiences with travel and vanlife in the most beautiful, sincere, and relatable ways. They have you experiencing all of the emotions as you listen to their stories and those of their wonderful guests. They seem genuine in what they discuss, sharing an honest account of the realities of living a life on the road, keeping things real yet greatly inspiring at the same time. They are simply a joy to listen to and have served as such a tremendous source of inspiration for us as we build out our van and prepare to hit the road.
