Monaco: What’s It Like to Be a Poser in Monte Carlo? 🛥️💰🏎️

Monaco: What’s It Like to Be a Poser in Monte Carlo? 🛥️💰🏎️

What’s it like to visit a millionaire’s playground when you’re not a millionaire? We’ll tell you in this episode of Travel FOMO.

Monte Carlo is the ol’ stompin’ grounds for James Bond and American actress-turned-royal Grace Kelly. But even if you’re not 007, you can still enjoy this gorgeous cliffside city. Perched on and around a cliff on the French Riviera, Monte Carlo is part of Monaco, the second smallest country in the world. There’s a palace, the Grand Prix, and yachts galore. Lots of “big money” makes its way through one of the only places where, ironically, residents are NOT allowed to gamble.

This episode is available wherever you listen to podcasts. To see Monte Carlo for yourself, watch their video from the trip: https://youtu.be/Zj0ZxAS4sFQ

Barcelona, Spain: What Does It Mean to Be Gaudi?

Barcelona, Spain: What Does It Mean to Be Gaudi?

Season 7 – Gap Year: Mediterranean Europe
    Episode 3 (Podcast Audio)

Ever wonder what life would be like inside of a Dr. Suess book? Come with us to find out! During this trip to Barcelona, we’re focusing on Antonio Gaudi’s incredible work. The famous architect is known for inspiring the monstrous, unfinished church called La Sagrada Familia. He was also a genius at crafting homes like Casa Mila and Casa Batlló. The entire city is sprinkled with his unconventional architecture that draws people from across the globe, including a gorgeous dragon-themed fountain at Parc de la Ciutadella. In this episode of the Travel FOMO podcast, we’ll share what we learned from our expert Gaudi guide, Patrick. All that walking makes us hungry, so we’ll give you a little taste of the paella and apple pie ice cream that can be found on the lively street of Las Ramblas.

San Sebastian: Women Rebuilt This City...Brick by Brick ⚒️👷‍♀️🧱

San Sebastian: Women Rebuilt This City...Brick by Brick ⚒️👷‍♀️🧱

Season 7 – Gap Year: Mediterranean Europe
    Episode 1

Border cities are the best! San Sebastian-Donista sits on the border of northern Spain and southwest France, an area known as Basque country. As such, it’s home to its own language (Basque), foods (like pintxos), culture and weather.

Like many Spanish cities, San Sebastian is sunny during the day and lively at night. And like most French architecture, the bridges and buildings are extravagant and regal. With two gorgeous beaches, pedestrians enjoy striking views that unobstructed by hotels and restaurants. Not to mention, there’s a historic castle on a hill (Castillo de la Mota) and a palace (Miramar Palace).

It’s hard to believe, but this entire city was raided and burned to the ground in the 1800s, following a deadly and dramatic war attack that killed half of the residents. But instead of starting over in a new place, the remaining citizens (mostly women) rebuilt the city one brick at a time.

Curious where Jamin and Hilarie stayed? Here's a link to their AirBnB in San Sebastian (non-sponsored): https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/32665603?check_in=2023-09-11&check_out=2023-09-12&guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_share_id=4dcff5cc-720c-4f5d-bcc8-1620dbc1715f
