Two men and a movie make for a good trilogy... in theory.

    A Trilogy of Black Sheep

    A Trilogy of Black Sheep

We accepted our punishment and have reached the end.
Again. And again. Our reexamination of the black sheep of highly respected film trilogies (okay maybe not GHOSTBUSTERS) has reached its unnatural conclusion as we kick THE GODFATHER PART III, SCREAM 3 and GHOSTBUSTERS (2016) one last time while they are down... and have a pretty good time doing it. This may be our coldest take in a medium that demands something spicy and controversial. What can we say? We think these three movies still stink. Enjoy!

    Ghostbusters (2016)

    Ghostbusters (2016)

Answer the Call? The Female Ghostbusters? We got all the clickable comments.
Two men who are decidedly not beholden to the original GHOSTBUSTERS film take on THE hot button issue of 2016... Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS. Notice how we give all the credit to a man there? Does that help? DOES IT?

Unfortunately it doesn't. As much as we want to root for Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig's cosplay this just ends up being the saddest episode ever. We mention STRANGER THINGS a few times... does that help?

No. No, it does not. Enjoy!

    Scream 3 (2000)

    Scream 3 (2000)

Jay and Silent Bob learned how to overstay their welcome from the SCREAM franchise.
This seems like an appropriate lesson for TRILOGY IN THEORY as our little podcast just hit 100 episodes. Spoiler alert: we don't plan on stopping anytime soon because we have yet to make any money off of this crap.

Unlike the SCREAM franchise which still is held in high regards by your hosts... though maybe not this entry. At least there is Parker Posey playing the best Courtney Cox in the entire series. AT LEAST WE HAVE THAT. And 100 episodes. You're welcome.

    The Godfather Part III (1990)

    The Godfather Part III (1990)

We question just how much Francis Ford Coppola values family...
...and how little he valued Al Pacino's hair in THE GODFATHER PART III. Or is it The GODFATHER CODA: THE DEATH OF MICHAEL CORLEONE? Take your pick for we remain decidedly unhappy. Or are we happy in our unhappiness with the finale to the Corleone family saga? Because of this and search engine optimization #ReleaseTheSnyderCut gets mentioned and to a lesser extent our shared love of SCREAM 2.

Which at least mentions The Godfather sequels. Did I mention that I'm going to see SCREAM 2 the 25th anniversary theatrical showing this weekend? I've earned this. For this represents 100 episodes of TRILOGY IN THEORY. And I also watched THE GODFATHER PART III: CODA: THE DEATH OF MICHAEL CORLEONE: BUT NOT REALLY.

    It was fun!

    Paradise is No Picnic

    Paradise is No Picnic

Much like Albert Brooks... one host can't be happy with every version of cinematic heaven.
As the host with the opposite opinion of THE MAJESTIC I'll take my cheap shots on my unwitting partner in podcasting. For I write the show notes. Which is clearly important. Maybe.

With DEFENDING YOUR LIFE and THE DESCENDANTS joining us in our idyllic trilogy (in theory, of course) we debate the traumas of our various leading men as they attempt to keep their previous sins away from what should be paradise. As usual, George Clooney comes out ahead. Not much of a spoiler.

What is a spoiler is that THIS is our greatest trilogy and can only be topped by our very next episode. Episode 100. THE GODFATHER PART 3. Naturally.

    The Descendants (2011)

    The Descendants (2011)

George Clooney makes a flip-flops sprint of panic iconic.
Among his other accomplishments. Such as losing a lover to one Matthew Lillard. Alexander Payne continues to bring darkly comic tragedies to life in his follow-up to SIDEWAYS and in doing so he may have peaked with one host.

But not before said host hated THE DESCENDANTS initially. It's an episode of wild emotional swings and Robert Forster punching children. A new TRILOGY IN THEORY classic!

Great Discussions!

Love the discussions Michael has with his guests, and the format is really enjoyable. Although you may be apprehensive to listen to a few episodes since they cover 3 whole movies, they're still really enjoyable. Well worth looking for that one episode where you don't mind some spoilers and digging right in!

Super interesting take on an old idea

If you’re tired of hearing boring movie review podcasts but love movies, check out this one! Super unique idea!

A fresh take

This is a refreshing new idea in a market awash with movie podcasts. Great idea and well executed! I'm always entertained, sometimes laughing and sometimes yelling at my pod machine when they disagree with my opinion! Ha!
