Tulsa’s Vibrant Car Scene: R3 Performance Products, Tuesday Cruise & Mecum's Grand Debut Mecum On the Move

    • Leisure

In preparation for Mecum Auctions' Tulsa debut, in this On The Move, hosts Matt Avery and John Kraman have their eyes set on delving deeper into the vibrant car scene in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After a brief schedule rundown of upcoming auctions taking place after Tulsa, John gives the highlights from the company’s latest record-setting event, Dana Mecum’s 34th Original Spring Classic, held in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was the second Mecum auction in 2021 to achieve more than $100 million in overall sales, posting a total of $107.8 million in sales. Over nine days, a total of 2,057 cars were offered with an impressive 83% sell-through rate. Keeping the spotlight on Indy action, John also shares impressions of the 105th running of the Indy 500. Then the guys share how they’ll be on the road in June, traveling to some of the nation’s top automotive events. Their first stop is at the Bloomington Gold Corvette show, where both are conducting educational seminars. To wrap things up, there’s another On the Move REView, this time with the guys spending time with a 2021 RAM 1500 TRX. They each give their impressions from behind the wheel of the extreme off-road truck and some thoughts on what makes it so desirable and collectible to enthusiasts.

In the second segment, Matt and John are joined by R3 Performance Products Sales and Marketing Vice President David Miller. The shop, located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, handles all kinds of vehicle creations and restorations, including licensed builds like the Eleanor Mustang of "Gone in 60 Seconds" fame and iconic first-generation Yenko Camaros. David gets the guys up to speed with current projects and shares his thoughts on the future of the Resto Mod market.

Rounding out this week's episode, Dustin Turner is on the line. Dustin is the event organizer for the Tulsa Tuesday Cruise, the area’s longest running cruise night. Dustin shares with Matt and John how the event was started by his father in 1999 and how he has taken it over with his dad’s unexpected passing last year.
