Episode 50 - Man of Steal

Episode 50 is here! We only need to record 1356 more to equal the number of stolen bases Rickey Henderson swiped in his career. Maybe we will shoot for his career caught stealing mark of 335 first. To celebrate, we are talking Rickey the whole episode! His outrageous numbers and the even more outrageous stories, plus we find out what Rickey thinks the highlight of his career really was and how he “Can’t Get Enough” of it. Plus Wax Pack Heroes is deadlocked at 9-9. Who will take the lead as we power through some ‘91 Donruss.

Episode 49 - HR Derby & Max Carey

Episode 49 - HR Derby & Max Carey

The original HR Derby tv show debuted 60 years ago! This week we take a look back at the Hall of Fame players who battled each other for what was big money at the time. If Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and many more could spent part of their off season swinging lumber at LA’s Wrigley Field and we figured we could spend part of ours talking about it. Plus, Max Carey, a speedster in the dead ball era who kept running right into the Live Ball era. Before Lou Brock and Rickey Henderson, there was Max Carey. Wax Pack Heroes has a case of deja vu that has us asking how many Scott Fletcher cards are too many.

    Episode 48 - Party Like Its 1999

    Episode 48 - Party Like Its 1999

We continue to wreak havoc with the space time continuum this week as we travel back to 1999. While prepping for Y2K we managed to relive the entire 1999 MLB season, the highs, the lows, the leaders and the steroid fueled home run binges. We remember Don Larsen’s perfect feat and find out just how long people have been complaining about pitchers hitting. This week’s Wax Pack Heroes come in the form of 1988 Score and it’s a race of attrition. It could come down to who has the most mustaches and stirrups cause there were no stars to be had.

Episode 46 - Solo for the Holidays

Episode 46 - Solo for the Holidays

Mark is out making a living, so it is just Jeff this week. Despite being sick, he displays Ripken-like perseverance covering baseball holiday books by a rotund, jolly pitcher, the history of the Athletics elephant mascot and a 1980’s baseball quiz to test your long term memory. Plus, he dives into the world of rack packs for a solo Wax Pack Heroes segment. Happy holidays, see you next year!

Episode 45 - Tales from the Dugout v9

Back by popular demand, another installment of Tales from the Dugout. Hawk Harrelson somehow wins the Ford C. Frick award. Mule Suttles hit a ton of homeruns, why haven’t you heard of him? Victory Faust won a World Series with the New York Giants by coning John McGraw and Eiji Sawamura blew away Japanese batters but how did he fair against The Babe, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, and Charlie Gehringer? Hint, he did just fine. Plus, a new Wax Pack Hero where in one of us nets 3 Hall of Famers. The other does not.

Baseball History Coming Alive

As a fellow baseball podcaster I love hearing these two guys talk baseball history. They clearly do their research or just plainly know too much about baseball. Not sure which, lol. Anyways, highly recommend these guys. - Ben, Host of Diamonds and Roses podcast.
