Two Zero Q - Tate Barkley
You are listening to Two Zero Q: 20 Questions With Interesting People from the LGBT community and friends
This time, I'll be talking with Tate Barkley
Counselor, Attorney, Educator, Author.
His memoir SUNDAY DINNERS, MOONSHINE, AND MEN reveals his extraordinary journey from growing up closeted and afraid in the rural south during the mid-20th century to living as an out, highly respected attorney in a time when the basic rights of the LGBTQ+ community remain under attack by the highest offices in the land and individual and community opinions often follow suit.
Born and raised in small-town North Carolina, Tate's journey winds through poverty, addiction, a complex relationship with his biological father, and the constant effort to hide his identity. His story is one of survival and resilience, told against the backdrop of a society often indifferent and frequently outright hostile. His triumph lies in overcoming his traumas, embracing his truth, and inspiring others to do the same.
