    Thanksgiving Ballad Crash Course

    Thanksgiving Ballad Crash Course

If you want to submit a video for our 2019 Community Jam, here’s a crash course on how you can play the Thanksgiving Ballad. It’s not as in-depth as the course we have, but it’s a good starting point if you’re new to the song/progression.

Two SRV Slow Blues Licks With A Big Ending Bend

Two SRV Slow Blues Licks With A Big Ending Bend

In this lesson you’ll learn two SRV/Albert King style slow blues licks that both share a common ending: a big wide bend at a fret you’re probably not used to bending from. These licks are taken from our 5 Boxes Essential Licks course which has recently been updated with new tablature and video demonstrations for each of the 150+ blues licks taught in that course. The features shown in this lesson are exclusively available to members of our TXBA Locals program which you should totally join, because you’re awesome.

B.B. King Style Box 1 Ballad Lick

B.B. King Style Box 1 Ballad Lick

We’re in the middle of overhauling our 5 Boxes Essential Licks course, so this lesson will share one of the licks from that course. This lick happens in Box 1, but it uses some of the major-sounding notes, with some B.B. King style phrasing. It fits in a ballad style song, as you’ll hear from the backing track in the demonstration.

Cool Johnny Winter V Chord Lick

Cool Johnny Winter V Chord Lick

In this lesson I’ll teach you a deceptively simple Johnny Winter lick that works over the V chord in 12-bar blues. It uses the Box 1 shape we all know, but in a way we’re not used to.

How To Learn Guitar Solos (and remember them)

How To Learn Guitar Solos (and remember them)

In this lesson I’ll outline a process I’ve used for over 20 years to learn (and remember) solos. This won’t be the perfect approach for everyone, but it might be for you.

    TXBA Locals

If you’re serious about taking your playing to the next level, consider joining the TXBA Locals. You’ll have access to our entire library of courses, but more importantly, you’ll have access to online learning tools that help you do exactly what I describe in this video.

Our soloing courses are broken into individual licks, each lick has a pre-programmed “Instant Loop”, and you’ll have speed controls, video zoom, and interactive tablature.

A Simple Clapton Lick To Play Over The V Chord In Crossroads

A Simple Clapton Lick To Play Over The V Chord In Crossroads

This is a simple lick that fits well towards the end of a 12 bar progression. It’s taken from a live performance of the song Crossroads by Eric Clapton, and is part of the solo taught in the new course called Claptons’s Influence: Crossroad Blues.

Best "how to" you'll find

Tried many, few rise to the top. This one puts everyone else below him. Nice work Anthony.

Amazing

I've been a huge SRV fan from the first time I've heard him like many. Well before that I really never cared about soloing and he opened my world. Well after trying to learn from tablature for a while I gave up. Now years later I find this and it's been amazing
