Uli Who is a series of authentic and genuine conversations that Springfield Firefighter and Realtor Uli Gulje has with a wide ranging array of guests, covering topics across the spectrum, often broadcast from local brewery 4 By 4 Brewing Company. In an era when we're constantly connected on social media, we've never felt more DISconnected from one another, and that sense of isolation doesn't have to have rent space in your head. So tune in for an hour of good conversations about just about anything, and leave with food for thought and a smiling soul!
One Jolly Green Goliath! A Conversation With Cat & Todd
This week I'm fortunate enough to spend some time with Cat & Todd, two of the main engines that comprise one of the oldest breweries in town, Springfield Brewing Co. Their Greene Ghost is a flagship IPA, followed up by the Greene Dragon, the double IPA which has caused many a wild adventure; this week they debut The Goliath. This bad rooster is their Triple IPA & I am here to tell you, it's the smoothest ride you can hope for on the roller coaster of craft brews. Enjoy two remarkable folks & a great hour!
Mystery Jeff Reveals All!
Jeff Houghton is the long-time founder & host of The Mystery Hour here in Springfield, Mo. as well as being a fixture on the improv & debonair charmer scene. Today he drops by to tell us why The Mystery Hour is going OFF of television. Along the way we discuss dental hygiene, why Dwight Yoakam is kinda terrible and how you can go see the last filming of Jeff's show tomorrow night, Friday 6/18!
*also, this is the first live video podcast....check it on YouTube!
Rollin' With Hutson: Cigars & More
He's a renaissance man in many senses of the word: a tobacconist, a man with a Master's Degree in Biology and traveler of this world. Meet Christian Hutson, who along with his wife, owns and operates Just For Him here in Springfield, Mo. Over a super-informative hour, I learned I had much more in common with this gregarious and heartwarming man than I already thought. Enjoy an hour with Christian and in the last half, my good friend Max Bullock!
Punk Rock & Women...A Conversation With Johnny O.
He's a Navy veteran of the SWCC community who's hopped freight trains; a self taught auto mechanic and electrician with a BA in English and a minor in Comparative Lit who once stole a Ferrari from his father and spent some time in jail for it. Meet Johnny Ochetti, one of THE most interesting souls I've had the pleasure of hanging with. Over some smoked ribs and Coors Light, we began telling tales, some of which are here for your enjoyment. In his own words....."when you're done learning you're dead".
Tornadoes, Tunes & Ted...A Conversation With Mr. Ted Keller
Ted Keller is a well-known entity in the 417, having been a meteorologist on local television station KOLR-10 for many years starting in 1986. But you might not know that Ted is not only a passionate homebrewer but just one of the nicest people I've ever met, so it was a real treat to spend an hour with him talking tornadoes, his love for jazz music and enjoying his saison beer.
Behind The Beer With Lear Goes To Texas
For this latest installment of "Behind The Beer With Lear", he brought some delicious suds from two Austin, Texas breweries: Thirsty Planet and Circle Brewing. We also sampled a beer from Divine Barrel Brewing out of Charlotte, North Carolina. In between we discuss the source of imitation vanilla flavoring, the value of naps and some unsolicited advice on how to train your cat. Tune in for a fun & boozy hour with my good friend Ryan
Real take on what’s happening now
Listen to Uli’s take on what’s REALLY happening in the life and times of a firefighter/single dad/entrepreneur/beer slinger. The stories and perspective are singular, collective and hilarious.
Great Springfield Podcast
The Real State Podcast is a fun, interesting, and entertaining podcast. I find myself looking forward to the next podcast before the one I’m listening to is even finished. Uli has a genuinely intoxicating personality and keeps his guests and listeners engaged throughout the interview. I love the fact that I feel as though I am at Four By Four having a pint and a meaningful conversation. Keep the creative juices flowing and the rock star list coming.
The Greatest Show on Earth!
Love this show. Uli is a great host who curates interesting guests with great stories to share. And he’s a lot less racist than PT Barnum (see title of the review)!
