A skeptical churchgoer asks ’Is Christianity too exclusive?’ Grace Hill & Eric Huffman

Show listener Grace Hill grew up in church but has always had lots of skeptical questions, especially around whether Christianity is too exclusive when it comes to honest seekers in other faiths. She recently found a church home where she could ask her questions - The Story Church in Houston, TX founded by Pastor Eric Huffman, host of the Maybe God podcast.

Grace and Eric talk about making space for skeptics and the question of Christianity's exclusive claims.

Optimism or extinction? What’s the future of humanity? John Hands & Perry Marshall

Optimism or extinction? What’s the future of humanity? John Hands & Perry Marshall

Secular scientist and academic John Hands has been described as a 'polymath'. His 2016 book Cosmosapiens received wide praise for its analysis of human evolution since the beginning of the universe. His new book 'The Future of Humankind' looks ahead to what lies in store for homosapiens.

He discusses the issues with Christian thinker Perry Marshall, author of Evolution 2.0, as they discuss whether the dangers posed by AI, climate change or conflict are likely to lead to extinction, or whether we are due for a further development of human consciousness.

Classic Replay: Peter Kreeft’s argument from desire

Classic Replay: Peter Kreeft’s argument from desire

CS Lewis said "If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world."

Peter Kreeft is a philosophy professor and well known Christian thinker and writer. He defends the "argument from desire". Does our experience of transcendent longing indicate that there is a God to satisfy it?

Atheist philosopher Richard Norman says that the argument amounts to wish-fulfillment.

They both sat down to discuss this issue, first broadcast in 2013.

Where does order in nature and the cosmos come from? Stephen Meyer & Saleem Ali

Where does order in nature and the cosmos come from? Stephen Meyer & Saleem Ali

Prof Saleem Ali of the University of Delaware is author of 'Earthly Order: How natural laws define human life' and describes the way order in the universe drives order in human and social settings. He engages with Dr Stephen Meyer of the Discovery Institute, whose book 'The Return of The God Hypothesis' makes the case that order in nature points to a divine mind.

Classic Replay: Does Science need God? Tom McLeish, David Hutchings & Suzie Sheehy

Classic Replay: Does Science need God? Tom McLeish, David Hutchings & Suzie Sheehy

To honour the passing of the great scientist and Christian educator Tom McLeish, we're replaying this show first broadcast in 2017.

David Hutchings is a physics teacher and prof Tom McLeish chaired the Royal Society’s education committee. Both Christians co-authored the book ‘Let there be Science: Why God Loves Science and Science needs God’ arguing that the Christian worldview has fuelled many of the greatest leaps forward in science.

Joining David and Tom was Suzie Sheehy, an accelerator physicist at Oxford University who is agnostic when it comes to religion. She argued that science doesn’t need God since it’s a fundamentally human activity.
