Understanding Anxiety 
Anxiety, according to Oxford Dictionaries, is defined as, “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.” 
Everyone experiences this at some point. In fact, anxiety is a somewhat normal reaction to stress as it can initiate our flight or fight response and keep us alert to our surroundings. However, it is important to learn the difference between feelings of anxiety and a true anxiety disorder. 
There are several different anxiety disorders, and they all have defining characteristics that make their diagnoses possible. On my next YOUNGER podcast episode, I will help you distinguish key factors that relate to anxiety, such as: 
Intensity and length of time  Impairment Physical manifestations I will discuss a variety of anxiety disorders and define what makes each different from one another. You might be learning more about anxiety for the first time for personal self-awareness, or maybe to help your child, a family member or a friend. 
I explain the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5) categories of anxiety disorders and how they are listed in three groupings:
