Nicole, on a recent tour of the Marshall House, at Fort Vancouver, we were told by a tour guide that it had been the Western White House. That’s why that building had such outstanding technology for the time. It had the first in the state forced air heating from a boiler furnace. It received the first telephone in the state, with a direct connection to Washington DC. That’s what we were told on our tour. It sounds familiar that if DC was attacked there was a plan to relocate to Fort Vancouver. I just can’t remember for sure if that was said.
I’m surprised I can’t find more info online, but I guess it fits under obscure history. 🤷♀️
My son’s name is Marshall, so the tour was fascinating to us!!
