In today's episode, we meet Melanie Masarin, the founder of Ghia, a non-alcoholic apéritif crafted with natural botanicals to both soothe and stimulate. Having spent her childhood summers near the Mediterranean, where aperitivo is a way of life, Melanie shares how her grandmother would make big jugs of limoncello each summer. For Melanie, enjoying a cool drink was more about making connections, enjoying the company of friends and family, and letting loose rather than the alcohol itself.
So, after deciding to reduce her alcohol intake, Melanie realized there weren’t a lot of great bitter alcohol alternatives out there that embodied the same feeling as her summer nights in the Mediterranean. With funding help from founders of both Away and Sweet Leaf, design help from Willo Perron & Associates, known for their work for icons like Rihanna and Kanye West, plus a whole lot of hard work, Melanie created Ghia. This week, you’ll learn more about her journey to being a business owner and how she plans to grow Ghia in the future.
