BA Crisp went from a Victim to a Human Trafficking Crusader

BA Crisp went from a Victim to a Human Trafficking Crusader

BA Crisp was raised by her loving grandfather as a young child. He had been a electrical engineering subcontractor for the largest nuclear reactor testing site on the planet. Crisp inherited his curiosity for electricity, science fiction and the supernatural from her grandfather. She was removed from her grandfather's care by the county authorities, by the age of six. The authorities mistakenly considered his cigars, scotch and philosophy as too inappropriate for child rearing.
BA Crisp would grow up as a ward of the court and become a foster child. Reading books and keeping journals as a form of escape. Until her “father” was awarded sole custody of his child. During the late 1970’s, they moved to a remote Ohio farm. As time passed new DNA tests revealed that the man she always thought of as her ‘dad’, was clearly not. Once again BA Crisp was thrust back into the juvenile court system. She was also labeled as unruly. Social workers discovered she had been a victim of human trafficking (back then it was still considered willful participation).
It is little wonder that she graduated from high school with a low C average. Crisp spent the next few years floundering her way through a series of misaligned relationships, bars and bad decisions. Until one evening a former friend of her grandfather's ended up paying a visit to a strip club, where she had been working as a dancer. With his guidance and support, she applied to Ursuline College and also graduated Summa cum Laude.
BA Crisp got her master’s degree from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management as co-valedictorian. She studied at London School of Journalism before heading to Exeter College at Oxford University. Where she matriculated from the International Summer Students’ Writing Program.
Crisp also worked as a Psychiatric Assessment Specialist for a large Cleveland based hospital in its mental health facility. The facility primarily dealt with the ‘criminally insane.’ Yet she also had a gift for working with troubled adolescents. BA Crisp eventually built a career as a governmental consultant and as an anti-human trafficking advocate.

Lawyer. Giant slayer. Legal crusader. CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYERCIVIL TRIAL LAWYERCRIMINAL TAX LAWYER
From small-town East Ridge, Tennessee, to the elite environs of the Eastern Ivy league, Robert Barnes walks among the humble and the haughty. Traveling from the everyday to the esteemed, representing clients fighting for their civil rights and celebrities taking on the IRS, Barnes heeds the advice of his newspaper-throwing father, Walter, who was fond of reminding, "Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes".As a young man, this exposure to widely varying walks of life gave Barnes a unique ability to empathize with and advocate for others no matter their background. Today, he uses this same empathy to serve his clients, persuade his juries, and win over the judges who preside over his trials.

Not your typical interview show!

From the first listen it’s obvious Eric puts a lot of time and effort into researching his guests. This is truly a testament to the level of respect he has for his guests and his listeners. These conversations are dynamic simply because of this level of preparedness. I look forward to each new episode because I know I’m going to be listening to something different.
