UGP 142 - Passport to Heaven - Micah Wilder - Book Interview - Part 4 - Finale
As a former Mormon missionary, how do you go back and tell people you converted to Mormonism what you taught them was a lie? With one family Micah baptized into the LDS church after the death of their young child, it was a long, difficult, and painful process.
What is one of the most effective things we can do to reach Mormons, especially ones that are hostile to the message of grace?
How do you navigate the danger of knowing so much about Mormonism (or any other religion) that your knowledge might actually hurt the effectiveness of your witness?
Lynn, Joel, and Micah explore all these topics in this deep, rich, and at times emotional episode. Join us for a podcast full of insight and moving stories that will encourage and move your heart as you experience a grace that heals.
UGP 141 - Passport to Heaven - Micah Wilder - Book Interview - Part 3
In this week's episode, Micah shares more from his new book and talks about hurricanes, the Love Elders, and how God used the leadership of the LDS Church and their missionary policies to help him see why following the Mormon religious system would never bring salvation or eternal life. He shares candidly about how the love of God was changing his heart. Micah shared this about the impact of the 4th hurricane:
"I remember this sickness in my stomach that I was going to put on a white shirt and tie and try and convert people to Mormonism when I knew that people were devastated. People had lost homes, they had lost power, they had trees through their roofs, and I remember praying about it and talking it over with my companion."
In the end, Micah and his missionary companion decided to put on street clothes and do what Jesus would do - not proselytize, but give people help where they needed it most. That decision came with a price. Listen to the podcast

UGP 138 - Totally Devout LDS - till Jesus showed up - Mireille Koester
Like her husband Charles, Mireille was a totally devout, born-in-the-covenant Mormon. They both served missions, met at BYU, got married in the Mormon temple. Life was good till Charles started having doubts (see the previous episode). Fearing for her husband's eternal destiny and their eternal marriage, Mireille begged God to change him. God's answer rocked her world. This is part 2 of three episodes with Charles and Mireille and the God whose grace brought healing to their lives and marriage.
Respectful and Well Intentioned
Lynn and Joel are both respectful and compassionate in every episode as they unpack the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lynn has a gentle soul and couldn’t be further from an “Angry Ex-Mormon” and Joel is knowledgeable of the religion he’s never been a member of.
Every episode leaves me wanting more and increases my desire to follow Christ.
Thankful for this podcast!
Thankful for this podcast and the attention they bring to the conversation surrounding performance based Christianity and real relationship with Jesus. My background is legalistic Baptist and listening is a blessing.
