Upgrade looks at how technology shapes our lives, from the devices in our hands and pockets to the streaming services that keep us entertained. Hosted by Myke Hurley and Jason Snell.
Pale Shade of Fun
This week: colorful iMacs, adding ports and slots to MacBook Pros, Paramount+ enters the streaming wars, and Twitter attempts to finally do something.
New iPad keyboards make us notice the magic of the Magic Trackpad, AirPods might be getting an unwelcome makeover, and the butterfly keyboard isn't really gone as long as we remember it.
Dogcow and Spinning Rainbow Cursor in Finderland
Disney+ keeps growing and its original content is flowing, and Apple TV+ brings new marketing muscle to bear for the second-season launch of "For All Mankind." And what can Apple do to make its Apple TV hardware more appealing?
Loved by Podcasters the World Over
Change is coming for us whether we like it or not. This week we ponder the possibility of an augmented-reality future, and mourn the loss of a piece of software we’ve used for every single episode of Upgrade (until now).
No Appreciable Gates
2020 was bad, but for Apple it was sort of... good? We take a last look back at the year with Apple's record financial quarter and the annual Six Colors Apple Report Card.
Cool Report, Though
This week Myke and Jason discuss Apple's rumored VR headset, a smaller MacBook Air, Fitness+ walks with celebrities, and why more movies and sports are making the move to streaming outlets.

Fun and informative
Jason Snell is a journalist with decades of experience covering PCs in general and Apple products in particular. Make Hurley is a younger nerd with limitless capacity to nerd out on the details of modern technology. They constantly amaze and entertain me with their ability to go into detail on the design aspects of new products. Even I don’t share their tastes in modern culture (strange how so many Apple nerds are also Star Wars and Star Trek fans), I enjoy listening to them talk about it. Very entertaining podcast.
A nice upgrade to my list
I started listening to Upgrade pre-streaming wars and got really into the Upstream segment. It’s really refreshing to have hosts that try to put a positive attitude to the things they cover. It’s easy to complain about lots of things in the tech industry but I feel like Jason and Myke try to approach things with a positive and excited outlook which is more fun to listen to.
