The 4th Beatitude. In our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we are beginning as Jesus did: with the blessings - or beatitudes - that he speaks to his followers.
These statements of Kingdom character are like a tree. Roots are there in the first three blessings as we consider our relationship with God, and how we need his grace and forgiveness and power to even LIVE in the Kingdom. Then this 4th Beatitude, this 4th characteristic of the citizen of the Upside Down Kingdom, is really like the tree that grows from the roots - the tree that eventually will produce the fruit, which are essentially what Jesus speaks of in the last 4 beatitudes. Those will be what THIS CHARACTERISTIC that we will study today will result in.Let’s look at Matthew 5, verse 6: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Let's break that down into 4 truths about being in a place where we are thriving in the Kingdom.
