Everyone has some gifts. Peter mentions speaking and serving. Find your gifts and use them. Even as you look to discover your gifts, you might see a need in the church; look for ways to meet it. You may find gifts in unguessed at areas! When you find your gifts, you will see how useful they are when facing trials, or suffering.

We are familiar with Paul speaking of faith, hope, and love, and his remark that the greatest of these is love. For Peter’s audience though the most important of these seems to be hope. Many have difficulty keeping hope alive. But remember: Jesus Christ’s resurrection gives new birth into a living hope. Where does your hope come from?
