This passage is from John 9:35-41, where Jesus healed a blind man and his belief in Jesus grew while the hearts of the Pharisees hardened. The blind man was cast out after being healed, and Jesus found him. Jesus asked him if he believed in the Son of Man, to which he responded in belief and worship. Jesus then talked about judgment and blindness, explaining that those who do not see may see and those who see may become blind. This is meant in both a physical and spiritual sense. If someone is blind physically, they are not guilty, but if they are blind spiritually, they are guilty. Jesus is calling out the false beliefs of the Pharisees and pointing out that they are blinded by their own superstitions. The blind man's belief in Jesus is an example of focusing on experiencing Jesus, and we should all get to know Him because He cares about us and wants to come to us in our deepest need.

The passage John 9:1-34 is about Jesus giving sight to a blind man and contrasts the different reactions to this miracle. The disciples ask why the man was born blind, and Jesus explains that the works of God might be displayed in him. Jesus heals the man by making mud with saliva and sending him to wash in the pool of Siloam. The man's neighbors and the Pharisees are skeptical about the miracle and question him and his parents. The man testifies to the truth of what Jesus did in his life and gradually comes to see Jesus as a prophet. The Pharisees are divided, and the man's understanding of Jesus continues to increase, while the Pharisees hearts only become more and more hardened.

The passage, John 8:48-59, discusses six ways to achieve true humility. Jesus engages in a discussion with the Jews, and they go on the offensive, questioning his lineage and accusing him of being a Samaritan and possessed by a demon. In response, Jesus says that the first step to true humility is to honor the Father, even in the face of dishonor. The second is to not seek personal glory, but rather to focus on the greatness of the Father. Third, we should never forget that God is the ultimate judge, and there will come a day when He will judge us. Fourth, to rightly order our lives, we must keep Christ's word. Fifth, we should focus on the eternal life promised by Christ's word rather than physical life. Finally, we should recognize that Jesus is the great "I AM" and has been present from the beginning of time.
