Vanessa Guillen, 20, was a Specialist soldier in the United States Army at Fort Hood, Texas. She went missing on April 22, 2020. Her family demanded answers from Fort Hood army officials for months. Finally, after being ignored they drove from Texas to Washington DC this week—and were only then told that Guillen’s remains had been found. Omar Moore looks at the murder (and possible cover-up) of Vanessa Guillen, who had complained of sexual harassment by male superior officers at the Fort Hood military base.
