Men Too: Unspoken Truths About Male Sexual Abuse - With Dr Kelli Palfy

Men Too: Unspoken Truths About Male Sexual Abuse - With Dr Kelli Palfy

Dr. Kelli Palfy began her professional career working in adult and youth corrections. Here she noticed a disproportionate number of males in the system. After becoming an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) officer, she took an interest in investigating sex crimes and went on to specialize in sex crimes committed against children internationally. Here, as she combed through video evidence, she witnessed first-hand the grooming tactics commonly used by sophisticated pedophiles.

Male sexual abuse occurs far more commonly than previously suspected, yet too few victims ever seek support. Countless remain silent. They cope through avoidance, isolation, substance abuse, hyper-masculinity, etc.

Men Too: Unspoken Truths About Male Sexual Abuse is for male survivors and their supporters. It is an educational, heart-wrenching look at 13 male sexual abuse victims experience, written from the perspective of a retired police officer and registered psychologist.

Using their narrative accounts, Dr. Palfy offers:

    • Healing for male victims through insight and support.
    • Strategies for parents and teachers to identify the grooming tactics of predators, plus suggestions to better protect children.
    • Information for helping professionals to recognize traumatized boys and men, plus explanations for why male victims often remain silent for so long.

Conversations about male sexual abuse need to increase. Men Too highlights the complex and unique barriers boys and men face during and after abuse. Help put them on the road to recovery.

After retiring from the RCMP, Dr. Palfy obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Alberta. She conducted her doctoral research on the reasons why males don’t commonly disclose sexual abuse. She is now a trained trauma therapist and public speaker on the topic of male abuse.

Dr. Palfy currently runs a small private practice where she works with male survivors of sexual abuse, first responders and couples using Emotion-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Approach, plus Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

'Silenced By Stigma' Male Sexual Abuse Survivor Who Speaks Up About Addiction And The Failure In The Justice System

'Silenced By Stigma' Male Sexual Abuse Survivor Who Speaks Up About Addiction And The Failure In The Justice System

Anu Verma interviews Silenced By Stigma Michael who was molested by his female babysitter when he was just 10 years old and he was then sexually abused for a year by an adult female neighbour. That abuse resulted in pregnancy with unknown paternity, a HIV scare, and profound emotional damage that was dismissed by his carers. He had also grown up in an abusive household and violent mother.

During his adulthood, Michael became highly suicidal, he began drinking, using drugs and partaking in sexually compulsive behaviour and after 29 years of alcohol and drug abuse, Michael got sober in 2017 and has remained so.

Male survivors typically do not disclose their histories of sexual abuse for 20 to 25 years and they often grapple with self-blame because they may fear they were complicit in their victimization.

After speaking with countless attorneys, in the hope of bringing his abuser to justice, their collective replies have made it clear that he committed the egregious error of being raped by a woman who wasn’t wealthy and also that he should have been 13 and not 14 years old at the time. They also stated that the sex was consensual.

Through therapy he’s discovered the toll that all of this abuse has taken on his mental and physical health, as well as his personal relationships and professional life. He’s now focusing his efforts to shine a light on the connection between abuse and addiction, and the often ignored issue of female sexual offenders.

Cord Cutting and Releasing Attachments - Workshop 8 on Letting Go of Energetic Attachments, with David Challenor

Cord Cutting and Releasing Attachments - Workshop 8 on Letting Go of Energetic Attachments, with David Challenor

Welcome back listeners to workshop 8 on cord cutting and releasing attachment. This is a special episode with a very special participating client, Pamela Alvarez Gonzalez who had sadly lost her dog only 3 days prior to this workshop. Pam was able to benefit profoundly from the benefits of this cord cutting ceremony, led by spiritual teacher of 28 years, David Challenor.

Cord cutting is ideal for anybody who is looking to cut a tie with somebody or something with whom they have formed an energy attachment with. During this podcast, we start off with a talk about cord cutting and attachment styles, which follows on with a guided meditation. The practice of cord cutting helps to recover energy that has been lost and to re-establish healthy energetic boundaries.

When we enter into a relationship with someone or something, whether it is with family, friends, an intimate partner, colleague, a pet, someone we have regular dealings with, or even an individual who you meet in passing, we develop energetic cords.

Cords help us to form connection and understanding with one another and when we are connected energetically, we perceive on a much deeper level and have the ability to tune into the energy of another.

As we move through our lives — growing, learning, evolving — naturally we need to let go of the energy which no longer serves us and this workshop will help you do just that. When we let go, we create space to allow for abundance, love & light to flow through our lives.

We hope that you enjoy the workshop and please do get in touch if you have any questions or comments. Namaste x

Beautiful person and excellent interviewer!

I had the honor of being interviewed by Anu a couple of weeks back. She is a natural at speaking with others. Her positivity, charisma, and compassion beam through her way of expressing herself and honoring the life stories of her guests. Before being on the show, I had the opportunity of hearing her many podcast episodes up on Spotify. My favorite was that of Dr. Priya. I learned so much about the non-linear nature of healing and how to better care for my inner child. I actually reached out to Dr. Priya to learn more about her work shortly after hearing Anu’s episode on her story. I was so energized to learn and connect with her guest and I’ve gotta say it was largely thanks to the vulnerable and safe sharing environment Anu created. She also has her own book and is completely humble about the success of it. I didn’t know about Anu’s struggles with childhood abuse until after being interviewed. This just goes to show how much she prioritizes her guests’ narratives and the time allotted to sharing them with the world.
