Just listened to the Kindertrauma episode...
Fantastic theme for a podcast. It caused me to think about the cinematic roots of my own aversion to birds.
My kindertrauma relates to the dual early childhood experiences of having an ostrich attacking the family station wagon while we were at Lion Country Safari in Boca Raton (it’s beak cracked the window where I was seated) and an accidental Saturday afternoon televised matinee viewing (I believe I was only five-years-old) of “the Birds”, specifically the climactic avian attack on Tippi Hedren, these experiences instilled a severe (and at times, debilitating) case of ornithophobia. For some reason it’s especially strong when I’m close to chickens, I start to sweat, my heart races, and I feel like I’m going to pass out.
So yeah, little Bryce saw “the Birds” and it pretty much ruined petting zoos for me for life!
Keep up the great work!
Off to an awesome start
Can’t wait to hear more. I’m one of the few people who doesn’t get work in front of a screen all day, so I devour a lot of film-related podcasts to fill my time. I have to say, that even just having heard the very first episode, Video Killers is a cut above the rest. In fact, I’m unsubscribing from some other podcasts because the bar just got raised.
