Insecurity is Cured by Intimacy and Identity

Insecurity is Cured by Intimacy and Identity

75% of girls with low self-esteem reported engaging in negative activities like cutting, bullying, smoking, drinking, or disordered eating. This compares to 25% of girls with high self-esteem.

According to the Counseling and Mental Health Center at The University of Texas at Austin, low self-esteem often presents in one of three patterns
    1. Imposter Syndrome: A person uses accomplishments or false confidence to mask their insecurities. They fear failure will reveal their true, flawed self. The person may use perfectionism or procrastination to deal with this anxiety.
    2. Rebellion: A person pretends they don't care what others think of them. Their feelings of inferiority may manifest as anger or blame. They may act out by defying authority or breaking laws.
    3. Victimhood: A person believes they are helpless in the face of challenges. They may use self-pity to avoid changing their situation.  They often rely on others to save or guide them. Insecurity leads to eating problems, depression, social anxiety, codependency, and even self-harm.

Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:15-17

    Insecurity is idolatry
“For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:13

    Insecurity leads to insanity.

Insecurity is into titles, identity is into towels.
Insecurity is into competing, identity is complete
Insecurity focuses on weight, identity focuses on worth
Insecurity looks in the bathroom mirror, identity looks in the mirror in the word
Insecurity is jealous, identity is joyful
Insecurity is focused on issues, identity is focused on intimacy
Insecurity is into self-pity, identity is into self-care
Insecurity live out labels, identity live out of love
Insecurity hides from God, identity hides in God
Insecurity feels abandoned, identity walks as adopted
Insecurity leads to idolatry, identity leads to inheritance

    1. Don’t eat from the tree of insecurity.

If you eat from the tree of insecurity, you will hear the voice of the devil.
If you eat from the tree of life, you will hear the voice of the Lord.

There will be a reason to feel insecure, but also is the choice not to feed on insecurity.

It’s not the tree that made Adam feel shame, eating from it did that. Feeding leads Feeling.

    2. Figleaves don’t fix shame.

Figleaves are influence, wealth, position, titles, position, and even ministry.

Your body came out of dirt but you came out of God. If you draw your identity from your body you will always feel dirty.

    Cure for Insecurity:

    1. Intimacy with God cures insecurity.

When you are aware of God, you lose attention to self.
When you’re aware of self you lost the attention of God.

    2. Read the word of God until it feeds you.

    3. Don’t live in your soul, speak to your soul.

    4. Don’t compare if you want to be complete.

    5. Criticism and compliments are gum, not bread.

    Don't Go Back to Normal

    Don't Go Back to Normal

    DON’T GO BACK TO NORMAL
// Vladimir Savchuk

We shouldn't go back to normal because God is always moving forward, and He wants to do a new thing.

Limitation leads to innovation. The first name of God we meet in the Bible is CREATOR; His Spirit is the source of our creativity.

This pandemic will either prune us or will purge us.

We must move from Churchianity to Christianity!
    1. Churchianity is about who we are seating; Christianity is about who we are sending.
    2. Churchianity is about encouraging; Christianity is about equipping.
    3. Churchianity is about membership; Christianity is about ministering.
    4. Churchianity is about services; Christianity is about serving.
    5. Churchianity is about programs; Christianity is about the process.
    6. Churchianity is about making events; Christianity is about making disciples.
    7. Churchianity is about buildings of brick; Christianity is about building people.
    8. Churchianity sees Sunday as a destination; Christianity sees Sunday as a gas station.
    9. Churchianity counts decisions; Christianity counts disciples.
    10. Churchianity is us going to the Church; Christianity is Church going to the world.
    11. Churchianity is about building attendance; Christianity is about building an army.
    12. Churchianity will go into decline; Christianity will go into digital discipleship.
    13. Churchianity is into methods; Christianity is into the mission.

How to Move Forward to the NEW:

    1. Hear from God. (Hab.2:1)

    Cultivate awareness of God's presence.
Build a reservoir of God's word.
Remove the noise from your life.
Learn to watch and wait on God.

God whispers, not yell because He expects us to be close.

2. God's answer comes in the form of a vision.

"Vision is a picture of the desired future." Andy Stanley

"Visions and dreams are the languages of the Holy Spirit." David Yonggi Cho

The Holy Spirit is the source of visions. Visions produce faith. Faith brings focus.

Most of us don't struggle with a lack of motivation but with a lack of inspiration.

A person without a vision is a slave to their reality.

Write the vision down, but make sure it's in the heart.
Vision is given to an appointed person, but it has an appointed time.
Vision comes to you slowly, but you must run to it swiftly.

3. Don't waste your waiting.

The quality of your soul will determine the quality of your life.

The process of waiting exposes sickness in the soul.

God will change you before he changes your life.

4. You must be filled before you are fulfilled. (Hab. 3:17-19)

You need to be filled with God's Spirit; don't wait to be fulfilled by fulfillment of God's promises.

Happiness comes from what's happening to you. Joy comes from who lives in you.

Review

Thanks for this podcast Pastor, what a blessing I am always challenged to reach further for God when I listen to your sermons. I just finished Break Free and was so encouraged by it; I noticed I have been experiencing more attacks in my mind but I know it’s because I am seeking to put in to practice what I read and am listening to more sermons and podcasts so the devil is mad. Either way I am not giving up and keeping my eyes on Jesus, please pray for me and God bless you and keep pointing the masses to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit!
