Vocation and the Common Good with Dr. Maurice Wallace Vocation & the Common Good

    • Social Sciences

In this episode, Dr. Maurice Wallace, Associate Professor of English at the University of Virginia and Associate Director of the Carter G. Woodson Institute for African-American and African Studies, describes what it's like for him to have had "one vocation and two jobs." Until recently, he was both university professor and pastor of a local congregation outside of Durham, NC. In Maurice's view, the demands placed upon pastors by most congregations make the possibilities of true bi-vocational ministry increasingly rare. And yet, this interview with Maurice shows how a life lived between "church" and "academy" can be a faithful response to the call of God.
