Interview with Tabatha Coffey
Tabatha Coffey, Matrix's Global Business Ambassador joins our host to discuss L'Oreal's Back in Style Campaign. You will recognize Tabatha from Bravo reality TV shows Shear Genius, Tabatha Takes over and more.
Tabatha explains that the salon was her happy place for a bullied child, the love and full transformations that occurred in the space were the factors that drew her into a historic career in the industry.
On equality and LGBTQ rights in the salon: "I was really lucky that I grew up the way I did surrounded by the trans community and other members of the LGBTQ plus community. I am also part of the community myself. So growing up in that environment gave me a very different mindset and. You know, perception of everything. I think the salon industry has taken a lot of flack recently.
I think some of it is frustration that people are failing, that they absolutely should be feeling that way. And that's totally warranted. I have always believed that. For me to be good at my craft. Every client is welcome in my door without judgment."
On how she entered the Bravo family: "...It was really easy and I say that honestly, and with a little bit of aura and wonder, there was a casting call for Shear Genius...I decided that on my way to my typical Sunday, brunch, I would do a drive by."
L'Oreal's Back In Style Campaign is a resource that L'Oreal created for consumers to find ways to support their salons even if they are in lock-down or they don't feel comfortable coming into the salon. A few of the suggestions include:
Donating your monthly beauty budget to the salon Send a tip to your stylists via venmoDonate to the PBA Covid-19 Relief Fund Purchase gift cards from your salon Resist the urge to DIY
