What does God command to TEACH? (OT, Part 1 of 5)

What does God command to TEACH? (OT, Part 1 of 5)

In this 4 part series we will look at the things God's word says we are to teach.  Some are familiar with 2 Timothy 3:16 which tells us how scripture is profitable, 4 items are listed.  The are 1) teaching, 2) correcting (making straight again), 3) reproof/rebuke, and 4) training in righteousness (same used for raising children).  2 Timothy 4:2 then commands Timothy to preach the word, to reprove, rebuke, and exhort will all authority.  Titus 1:9 gives 2 charges to elders, they are to exhort and reproof in sound teaching (doctrine).  In Part 1 today we will look at what God commands is to be taught by looking at old testament passages.  Ask yourself if this is what you have been taught and if it is what you are teaching others.

    Are YOU A Spiritual Sacrifice?

    Are YOU A Spiritual Sacrifice?

Everyone would agree that Jesus was a sacrifice to God, his Father for the payment and forgiveness of sins.  There had to be a holy sacrifice.  Not just that, but Jesus is a living sacrifice; thus he lives forever to make intersession as people come to God through Christ (Hebrews 7:23-25).  But did you know that we are commanded to be a Holy Priesthood?  We are now to present our lives as a holy and living sacrifice which is our acceptable service to God.  Now we cannot do that until we have been born again, of the same Spirit of Christ, being filled with all the same fullness of Christ (We discussed this in the Ephesians ch 2-5 Episode).  In this episode we look at how our lives are now to be the holy and living sacrifice.  We are to be freed from sin and no longer to walk in it.  Instead we are to "do the will" of God.  We will look at the passages which appoints us as priests, a kingdom of priests.  We will also look at the passages of being commanded to do the will of God.  The perfect will of God.  Amen.Passages Covered:  1 Peter ch 2; Exodus 19:4-6; 1 Peter 1:13-18; Revelation 1:6, 5:10, 20:6; Romans 12:1-2, ch 6; Ephesians 5:1-2, 4:17-24; Hebrews ch 10; 1 Peter ch 4; 1 John 2:15-17; Mark 3:35; 2 Timothy 2:19-26.

Love: No Profit, If you don't Love! (Part 4 of 4)

Love: No Profit, If you don't Love! (Part 4 of 4)

In this episode we will look at how Love profits us and what kind of love we just have.  Be careful that your love is not of things of the world.  Our love must be without hypocrisy.  If we want to be sons of God, we must be able to love our enemies.Passages covered:  Psalm 1, 4:2-5; 1 Timothy 6:10-14; Mathew 5:44-48; Luke 6:32-35; Romans 12:1-2, 9-21, 14:15-18; 1 Corinthians 13:1-8, 13; Philippians 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:3-11; 2 Timothy 19-26

Love: Got Love? Get it IN you! (Part 3 of 4)

Love: Got Love? Get it IN you! (Part 3 of 4)

We have looked at Love being the greatest commandment and what God says it is in Part 1.  Then in Part 2 we looked at Jesus' teachings and what John recorded in the book of John and 1 John which reinforces what the greatest commandment is, and that it is to be keeping the commandments and not sinning.  In this episode (Part 3), we will look at how this is possible.  First, we must truly have the love of God and it must be inside of us.  We will look at the passages of the bible that discusses the fact the love must be inside of us and it is put there by the Holy Spirit being poured out into our hearts.  To be able to love, we must have the New Heart and New Spirit.  We did a separate 6 part series on this topic, but for this series we will be focusing on whether we have the Love of God and what it does.Passages covered:  Romans 5:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:14-17, 21, 6:1-18, 7:1, 9-10, 12:20-13:5; 1 Peter 2:19-24, 4:1-2; Ephesians 3:16-21, 4:1-3, 11-15, 17-31, 5:1-11, 1:4-5, 2:1-5, 6:23-24; James ch 1; Colossians 2:2-11; Titus 3:1-7, 2:11-15; Romans 8:28, 12-14, 38-39.

Love: Do you walk in it? (Part 2 of 4)

Love: Do you walk in it? (Part 2 of 4)

In this episode we will continue to look at "Love".  In part 1 we looked at how God defined what it means to love God and love your neighbor as yourself.  The greatest commandment and fulfillment of the law.  We will now look at the teachings from Jesus that John recorded and taught in the books of John, 1 John, and 2 John.  God's word will now reinforce what it means to love, who loves God, and who is the liar (the one who says and thinks they love God, but God says they DON'T).  The passages will continue to reinforce to love God is to keep God's commandments, to abide in righteousness, and to walk as Christ walked.Passages reviewed:  John ch 3, ch 14, ch 15, 17:19-26; 1 John chapter 1-5; 2 John

LOVE: The Greatest Commandment! (Part 1 of 4)

LOVE: The Greatest Commandment! (Part 1 of 4)

Description:  Love, it is the greatest commandment that has existed from the beginning.  Both OT and NT you will find this command.  In this episode we will look at where the bible clearly states this is the command of God and where to find the passages in the OT.  We will also look at scripture at how the bible explains what it means to love God and to love your neighbor as yourself.  Many people think and will say they love God and love their neighbor, but does our thinking line up with what God says?  To love God is to obey His voice and keep His commandments.  To love your neighbor as yourself is to not sin against your neighbor?  In the Part 2 of 3 episode we will explore more of the discussion in the book of John and 1 John which emphasizes God's definition of what it means to love.  In Part 3 of 3, we will further explore other books of the NT to reinforce what it means to love.Passages reviewed:  Mathew 22:36-40; Deuteronomy 6:1-8/24-25, 5:10, 7:9-10, 10:12-16, 11:1,13,22,26-28, 13:3, 26:16-18, 28:9, 29:4, 30:6-20; Leviticus ch 19; Romans 13:8-10; Psalm 97:10-12, 119:41-48, 97-120, 145:18-20; Proverbs 8:1, 13, 17-20, 32-36; Mathew 5:17-20, 19:16-19; Mark 7:6-23, 10:17-21, 12:28-34; Luke 10:25-28
