230: Mom Uncharted is Here to Tell You Why You Should Think Twice Before Posting Your Kids Online

230: Mom Uncharted is Here to Tell You Why You Should Think Twice Before Posting Your Kids Online

I've done it, maybe you've done it too... Posting my kids online. Feels harmless, right? Like, everyone wants to see cute babies, and funny toddlers, and maybe even show off their talented older kids .

But how much is TOO much when it comes to posting our kids online, and where do you draw the boundary? Sarah Adams is the founder of Mom Uncharted, where she dives into that very question.

Each family has to decide their own rules, but it's something you should think about sooner rather than later if you're sharing any part of your child's story online.

    In this episode we talk:

+ The outrageous things that parents have shared online about their kids

+ The idea that "kids aren't content"

+ Giving our children the right to tell their own stories online

+ How to speak to your child about what you want to share online

+ Questions parents should consider before hitting "Post"

+ The exploitation of young girls on social media

    ...and so, SO much more.

Welcome to The Healthy Skin Series, a miniseries on We Gotta Talk where I'm interviewing various experts and founders on how to achieve healthy skin.

On the first episode, I'm talking with the founder of one of the lines that's always on my top shelf (and in my nightstand!), Furtuna Skin.

Kim Walls has studied biochemistry, skincare and nutrition for two decades, and along with Furtuna Skin co-founder Agatha Luczo, has launched a line that comes from the heart and the hills of Sicily, Italy.

Combined scientific knowledge with the wisdom of plants, Furtuna Skin has some incredible products that I always have on hand. I'm a fan of their gentle micellar water (perfect for a gentle AM cleanse when I don't want to *wash* wash my face), their bi-phase oil (which I literally leave in my nightstand and use as a last, replenishing step), and most recently have become obsessed with their azure-colored beauty, the Olive Replenishing Balm.

    Join us as we talk:

    + The pro-aging mentality, versus anti-aging

+ The wildly potent plants from the organic Furtuna farm in Sicily that feed their formulas

+ What it's like visiting the Furtuna farm

+ What makes olive oil a uniquely powerful skincare and nutrition ingredient

+ Why we're being gentler on our skin--avoiding harsh "anti-aging" ingredients and instead leaning into gentle ones

+ Protecting and re-building the skin barrier

    ...and more!

Follow Kim on Instagram here, and check out all of Furtuna's amazing offerings here. Start with the products above; you won't be sorry!

227: Picking Daisies in Right Field: A Big, Long Ponder about How Much is Too Much when It Comes to Kids' Activities (Solo Episode)

227: Picking Daisies in Right Field: A Big, Long Ponder about How Much is Too Much when It Comes to Kids' Activities (Solo Episode)

Join me as I ponder (for a whole half hour) the everlasting question of modern parenthood: When is too much, too much... when it comes to our kids' activities? Am I the only one who's having a hard time keeping up? Are we doing too much? But if we dial back, then is it too little and they're missing out? Is it wrong to want your kids to just have a happy, average life? How do we help our kids reach that sweet spot of having something they love, and also letting them be kids? And why did no generation of parents before us ever really seem to wrestle with these questions??

Come for the ceaseless pondering, stay for the stories about me picking daisies in right field as a kid!
