Wednesday Lectio: Proverbs 15:1-5 We Wonder

    • Christianity

Today’s reading is from the book of Proverbs, chapter 15, verses 1 through 5. As we listen, I wonder if God’s Spirit wants to teach me about gentleness today?

1 A gentle answer turns anger away.
But mean words stir up anger.
2 The tongues of wise people use knowledge well.
But the mouths of foolish people pour out foolish words.
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere.
They watch those who are evil and those who are good.
4 A tongue that calms is like a tree of life.
But a tongue that tells lies produces a broken spirit.
5 A foolish person turns their back on their parent’s correction.
But anyone who accepts correction shows understanding.

Loving God, you are the LORD who is tender and kind. You are gracious. You are slow to get angry. You are faithful, and full of love. You forgive those who do evil, and you came to live and die for those who have turned their backs on you. Fill us with your Spirit so that we, too, can walk in your ways of gentleness, grace, and love. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
