RETURN | Week 3: Return to Reliance Bannockburn Church

EXAMINING THE KINGS OF II CHRONICLES

After 70 long years in a foreign land, the Israelites have finally returned home. Initially carried away by Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonians, they settled in Babylon only to face yet another conquest by the Persians. However, through the sovereign hand of God, the people have now made their way back.

Standing among the rubble of their once proud land, they find themselves reflecting on the past. They reminisce about the golden age of Israel and the great kings who once ruled them. They also remember the increasing wickedness that infiltrated the hearts of their fathers, leading to their dispersion in the first place.

As the people return to their land, the book of Second Chronicles serves as a reminder that alongside physical return, there must also be a return of the heart to the Lord. It’s a return to brokenness, reliance, genuine prosperity, worship, repentance, and truth. In short, the Lord calls His people to return to Him.
