Big Chipperish Fan, this one wasn’t for me

I come to Chipperish for 2 things: to hear people share love for a story I also love AND well thought out criticism.

The portion of this podcast that discussed the mini-series really was a let down for me. There was a choice made not to discuss narrative until the end so most episodes devolved into “I loved this” and “I hated that” rather than a slightly more structured “here’s what they’re doing and why it works/doesn't work.”

I also felt like some weird assumptions were made at times (Anathama was the one who decided to burn the pages…that’s simply textual) and some of the British context of Good Omens was lost on the both hosts.

I can’t understand why discussions of character development and ethics were practically ignored.

Like true, the prologue didn’t move the plot along but it gives us insight to the main characters and their history and that’s still worthwhile for a good story.

Why-WHY was there not one discussion of ethics? I get it if you don’t feel like the two people to do a deep dive into philosophy but the Buffy/Angel podcasts had specialists brought on for extra episodes to discuss vampirism and religion!

I feel hugely let down by this podcast and that’s largely because I’ve come to expect more from Chipperish. In Lani’s own words - do better.
