    It's quiet. Too quiet.
"Westworld" Season 4 kicked off with William up to some dastardly deeds, but things quickly became muted as the story seemed to parallel parts Season 1 and parts "The Matrix Resurrections."
We also got some elements of Caleb playing Hawkeye (I've gotta leave my family to protect them) in a season premiere that felt unlike any "Westworld" Episode 1 we've ever seen.  Hear a sneak preview of what we'll be covering in Tuesday's Deep Dive, and help us spot the Easter eggs littered around "The Auguries."

    Westworld - 401 - The Auguries

"Westworld" is back, and a lot has changed in the seven years since we've seen Maeve, Caleb, William and Dolo ... err, Christina. Ash and Gene are here to dive straight into the meaning of the episode title, the changes to the "Westworld" opening credits, and what's new in the world.
This Deep Dive, covering Episode 1, "The Auguries," also explores what William is plotting, what the flies are all about and why Teddy is back. Beyond that, the Shat Crew catalogs the Easter egg parallels Episode 1 used to tie the show back to Season 1 and searches for meaning in them with the help of listeners. We also discuss this seasons CGI, "My Father's Dragon," and Lana Del Rey's "Video Games."

    Westworld Episode 1 Summary:
A host copy of William manipulates the owner of the Hoover Dam, which now houses a large data vault that contains data he wants from eight years ago, to give it to him for free before killing himself. In New York City, Christina works as a writer at Olympiad Entertainment, creating stories for the non-player characters in video games. She is repeatedly called by a man named Peter, who claims she is controlling his life, and proves it by jumping to his death in front of her. Maeve, living in a remote area, is discovered by hosts that she kills and discovers were sent by William. She drives to California to stop another host from killing Caleb and his new family. Caleb goes with Maeve to protect the next target. Back in New York City, Christina wishes to write a story with a happy ending before retiring, unaware she is being watched by someone resembling Teddy from below.

This week's listener voicemail and letters mostly seemed to focus on two big topics: Who is Christina, and are we in a simulation? And while it's too soon to tell, the tinfoil is coming in hot.
Season 4, Episode 1 also had listeners thinking about whether "Westworld" can still draw an audience, what the episode titles might mean, and how much hosts may have evolved in the seven years since Rehoboam fell.
Gene loses his mind trying to think through the possibility of time behaving differently in The Sublime, and Ash takes cheap shots at Aaron Paul's hair.

We got a new park! No matter how heavy-handed the dialogue gets. No matter how senseless the deaths become. No matter where Christina's side story takes us, "Westworld" fans can cheer what looks like the most fun park yet.
Season 4, Episode 2, "Well Enough Alone" uncovered some key clues behind the strange occurrences in Christina's world, gave us a pretty clear picture of what Charlores is up to, and revealed the original William is alive and not-so-well.
Our Instacast edition shares our immediate takes on the episode and preview's what we'll be covering in the upcoming Deep Dive.

    Westworld - 402 - Well Enough Alone

    Westworld - 402 - Well Enough Alone

"Westworld" Season 4's second episode gave us a lot more solid footing, revealing how many hosts have replaced humans in the real world, what Charlores' ultimate goal seems to be, what the new park looks like and whether William is really dead.
But "Well Enough Alone" also stirred up plenty of mystery, including the life and death of Peter Myers, the science behind the black goo and more questions about The Tower. We'll get to it all in this Deep Dive edition.

    Westworld Episode 2 Summary:
The rogue copy of Dolores in Charlotte's body is revealed to be replacing U.S. government officials with host copies, with the William host acting as her enforcer and continuing as CEO of Delos. She keeps the human William alive in cryogenic stasis. The Vice President of the United States visits William to warn him against opening a new Delos park on U.S. soil, but William attacks him and replaces him with a host. Maeve and Caleb encounter host copies of California Senator Ken Whitney and his wife Anastasia, and use the former's memory logs to learn of Charlotte's involvement. They find the real Anastasia in a horse farm behaving erratically, and Maeve is forced to kill her when she attacks them. Following cryptic directions Anastasia gave them before she died, Maeve and Caleb find themselves on a train headed into Delos' new park, themed after the Roaring Twenties. Christina finds one of her old narrative files matching what happened to Peter. She visits a mental health hospital in New Jersey to which Peter donated, only to find it abandoned and riddled with drawings of a distinctive tower.

This is THE best Westworld podcast. Great reviews, very smart guys. Dedicated

Entertaining and Honest

Great podcast - hosts do a great job of analyzing and dive into sub-context of other plot points. Don’t listen to the low ratings- it’s refreshing they point out the absurd pilot points this show has fallen victim to. I applaud your honest feedback and not just being “fanboys”. You 3 are great!

Just can’t listen

I like this group, even Ash😎. They are clever and probably correct most times in their steady criticism. I just find it hard to listen to because I have enjoyed Westworld and this group diminishes my enjoyment. Comments like Ed Harris needs to stay away from the show to avoid getting the stink of Westworld on him are just too ugly. I really don’t understand why they can’t focus on what happened and importantly what will happen next.
