    Advent Week 4: Agape/Love

    Advent is the time around Christmas where we celebrate and wait for the birth of King Jesus who came to take away the sins of the world and unite Heaven and Earth once again! During Advent, there are four weeks to anticipate the arrival of Jesus, so in this series through Advent, we are looking at Biblical hope, peace, joy, and love! Today, we talk about love. Biblical love in Scripture is much more than a feeling. Biblical love is an Agape love which is a love that is unconditional and that you choose to extend to someone else. We see that through God choosing us over and over again even when we fail. Today, we look at questions like in the Biblical narrative, how do we see this theme of Agape love that God extends over His creation? How does Jesus enable us to follow the greatest commandment? The Hebrew Bible records the history of the ancient Israelites as they struggle to follow the commandment to love God and others. If Israel had difficulty with this, how can we hope to do any better? What wisdom is found in Agape Love in the Christmas story and how can it challenge us this week as we go through our respective Christmas celebrations?     Advent Week 3: Chara/Joy

    Advent is the time around Christmas where we celebrate and wait for the birth of King Jesus who came to take away the sins of the world and unite Heaven and Earth once again! During Advent, there are four weeks to anticipate the arrival of Jesus, so in this series through Advent, we are looking at Biblical hope, peace, joy, and love! Today, we talk about joy! Chara is the Greek word for joy and it means goodness. During our seasons of waiting, how do we embrace and display joy? What fears does our culture face today? Why is joy so important? We answer those questions about joy and more on today's podcast!     Advent Week 2: Shalom/Peace

    Advent is the time around Christmas where we celebrate and wait for the birth of King Jesus who came to take away the sins of the world and unite Heaven and Earth once again! During Advent, there are four weeks to anticipate the arrival of Jesus, so in this series through Advent, we are looking at Biblical hope, peace, joy, and love! Today, we talk about peace! Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace and it means “whole or completeness.” Shalom refers to something that’s complex with lots of pieces that’s in a state of completeness, wholeness. What does shalom like in our faith with Jesus? Why is it important for us to recognize shalom as being a part of the Christmas story? How do we obtain peace that comes from Jesus? How does Jesus bring peace to two very divided groups of people and how can we be that peace to the world today? These are all things about peace that we talk about today!     What is Prayer?

    What is prayer? What does Scripture say about prayer and the necessity of prayer? Why is it important? In this episode, Niko joins the podcast to talk about prayer and how it's been a part of his life as he's followed Jesus!
