Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Hannah, a smoke jumper struggling with a traumatic past is tasked with manning a fire tower in the Montana wilderness. A boy comes stumbling through the woods covered in blood and trusts Hannah with a dark secret leading the two on a perilous night fighting to come out alive.
JJ can't be swayed to change his mind on this movie. Javier does his best to defend it and questions his ability to be a mercenary. Ian has a lot of questions and a few things just seem off to him.
Wrath of Man (2021)
Jason Statham plays "H", a mysterious new hire to an armored truck service moving money around LA. Keeping to himself and observing as much as he can, this doesn't seem to be a simple job. When H's truck comes under attack by robbers, and his coworker wants to run, H calmly and precisely kills every one of the robbers searching for answers to some personal vendetta.
JJ goes full rant on random cameos. Ian calls it like it is on the "Hollywood" body armor. Mattson explains his catch phrase.
Without Remorse (2021)
Navy SEAL, John Kelly, is finally home safe with his family. His peace doesn't last long as SEALs involved in a Syrian operation are being murdered back home in the states. When they come for John, his wife and unborn daughter are killed. Now John's only focus is revenge for the death of his family, and he will uncover a conspiracy as he completes that goal.
JJ was so disappointed he couldn't even get the title correct in his intro. Mattson doesn't even know what to say. Javier and Ian get lost in some geography
Mortal Kombat (2021)
Cole Young is thrust into the secret world of Mortal Kombat as a champion for Earth against the ruthless champions of Outworld. Joined by other champions of Earth, Cole trains with his team as the odds are stacked against them. Will Cole be able to protect his family? Will Earth's champions succumb to the power of the Outworlders?
JJ is sad. Mattson brings his complaining A game. Ian does his best to defend at least a few different parts of the movie.
Hutch Mansell is nobody. He works his 9-5, exercises, and often forgets to take the trash can to the curb. One night shatters this routine when two burglars break into Hutch's home. Family held at gunpoint and Hutch with an opportunity to strike, he instead lets the burglars go disappointing his son and all who hear the story. Under criticism from people in his life, Hutch decides the hunt down the two burglars which eventually leads to a showdown with the Russian mob.
Ian wonders about all those weapons. Mattson has some interesting thoughts about Dad. JJ is easily distracted. Javier thinks Hutch is a murder hobo.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Todd Hewitt lives on New World, having come from earth to colonize. But New World has a strange effect on the men, their thoughts are voiced out loud. They call it the noise. After a war with the native species (the Spakle) all the women were killed, leaving a settlement of only men who must learn to live with their noise. But when Todd Hewitt finds a girl among the wreckage of a spaceship everything changes.
Ian admits that he swears a lot more in his mind than we can imagine. Javier questions everyone's motives. JJ is pleasantly surprised and disappointed at the same time. Mattson questions what thoughts were left out.
So many laughs
Stumbled upon this the other day, SOOOOO many laughs! I quite honestly cannot stop giggling, Ian needs to talk more, his calm demeanor really seems to balance out the louder voices (no names, but we all know who that is.) can’t wait to go back and listen to some earlier episodes.
Like the best ever
Super fun podcast. 5s across the board for everyone except Javier. He gets a 2 and a half which is good! Right in the middle of the road.
Mattson is my uncle, so I came to check his podcast show out. It’s actually pretty good, and y’all should definitely listen to it.
