The Mandalorian Chapter 16 "The Rescue"
The episode opens with The Mandalorian building his team by adding Bo Katan and Koska to Cara Dune, Boba Fett and Fennic Shand. Together they steal an imperial shuttle carrying Dr. Pershing and use it to infiltrate Moff Gideon's light cruiser. Once aboard the Nite Owls, Dune and Shand create a distraction by storming the bridge of the ship while The Mandalorian stops the battalion of Dark Troopers from being activated. Mando defeats one Trooper and releases the rest into space through the airlock. After finding Grogu in his cell with Gideon, they bargain and Din agrees to take the child but leave the ship along with the dark saber. Gideon betrays him and Mando defeats him taking the Dark Saber. Once on the bridge Gideon tells the group that they have not one as the Dark Troopers reenter the ship using their flight capabilities. With the Dark Troopers breaking down the blast doors fearing all is lost a lone X-Wing enters the hanger of the ship and an unknown Jedi destroys all of the Troopers on his way to the bridge. Once the Jedi enters the room he is revealed to be Luke Skywalker, who takes Grogu to train him. The Mandalorian removes his helmet and says goodbye to The Child.
Our special guest host Mason talks the emotion of the major reveal and excitement for the future. Ian worries about what season 3 may leave out. Jay commits himself to the Children of the Watch and Grogu for life! JJ is brought to tears and geeks out for the last time this season.
The Mandalorian Chapter 15 "The Believer"
Cara Dune uses her influence as a New Republic Marshal to get Migs Mayfield released from prison. As a former imperial sharp shooter Mayfield can use his code cylinder to acquire the location of Moff Gideon's ship. The crew travels to the planet Morag which houses an imperial mining base. Mando and Mayfield intercept a mining rig on its way back to the base and dressed as stormtroopers fight off local pirates to successfully deliver the volatile substance Rhydonium. Once inside the base Mayfield recognizes his old commanding officer Valen Hess, so he cannot enter the mess hall to use the code machine. Mando takes the cylinder and enters the mess and uses the machine but it requires a facial scan so he removes his helmet. He finds the location but is quickly called out by Valen Hess and invited for a drink. During the conversation Mayfield loses it and shoots Hess which requires the pair to fight their way out of the base. With the support of their team outside they escape and with a final shot Mayfield destroys the base. Cara Dune reports Mayfield killed during the mission and allows him to go free on Morag.
JJ talks much needed character progression for more than just Mando. Jay leans into all of the tie-ins. Ian talks about the fact that this is the first episode without Grogu.
The Mandalorian Chapter 14 "The Tragedy"
The Mandalorian and The Child have made it to the planet Tython so that Grogu can use the Jedi Temple ruins to choose his path. At the ruins seemingly nothing is happening but as a strange ship lands shortly after them and The Mandalorian decides to leave he realizes they can't as Grogu is encased in a force beacon and cannot be reached. The strange ship is the Slave I with Boba Fett and Fennic Shand. The three of them are soon attacked by transports of Stormtroopers. Boba retrieves his armor from the RazorCrest and they defeat the troopers. At the end of the battle Moff Gideon's Dark Troopers descend and kidnap Grogu from the ruins and the RazorCrest is destroyed. Boba and Fennic agree to keep their end of the bargain to help save The Child. Grogu is show using the force to protect himself before Gideon shows him the Dark Saber and has him stunned and shackled. The episode ends with The Mandalorian asking Cara Dune to help him free Mayfield in order to track Gideon and save Grogu.
JJ geeks out...again. Ian is skeptical about how long the RazorCrest will stay destroyed. Jay learns so much.
The Mandalorian Chapter 13 "The Jedi"
The episode opens on Corvus where the planet's magistrate and her security watch a battle taking place in the foggy woods just outside the city walls. Soldiers are being cut down methodically by the former Jedi Ahsoka Tano. After landing on the planet The Mandalorian is tasked by the magistrate with killing the Jedi for the payment of a pure beskar steel spear. The Mandalorian finds Ahsoka and after fending off a brief attack he introduces her to The Child. Ahsoka speaks with The Child through The Force and informs Mando that the child's name is Grogu and he was raised in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and was taken as the fall of the Republic was taking place. Din helps Ahsoka infiltrate the Magistrate's hideout. We find out that Ahsoka is looking for Grand Admiral Thrawn whom the Magistrate serves. Ahsoka informs The Mandalorian that she cannot train Grogu due to his attachment to Din Djarin. She also tells him to take him to the planet Tython where there is a ruined Jedi Temple still strong in The Force. There Grogu can choose his own path and possibly call other Jedi to him through The Force.
Ian was surprised that Ahsoka was introduced in the episode intro. Jay questions the marketing decision behind the name Grogu. JJ is in a full on geek coma after this episode. Mattson questions JJ's familiarity with "Sam" Jackson.
The Mandalorian Chapter 12 "The Siege"
After unsuccessfully trying to repair his own ship The Mandalorian decides to return to Nevarro for repairs. Upon his return Mando and The Child are reunited with the now Magistrate Greef Karga and Marshal Cara Dune. While the Razorcrest is being repaired Karga asks The Mandalorian for his help in destroying an imperial base in order to completely remove the empire from his planet. Once there the band of heroes finds more than they bargained for, stumbling upon science experiments, a message to Moff Gideon regarding acquiring more blood from The Child and a whole battalion of Imperial Storm Troopers, Tie Fighters and Speeder Troopers. The group succeeds in escaping from and destroying the base. With the repairs to his ship complete he and The Child head back out to find Ahsoka Tano while unknowingly being tracked by Moff Gideon
Mattson finally gets what he wants and cannot be more excited. Jay is looking for a new name for The Child. Ian is still shocked by the speed of ship repairs. JJ fills in the gaps on the Dark Troopers.
