Interview with BLOODMOON Author Britney S. Lewis

We are so excited about this chat with the queen that is Britney S. Lewis and to bring you this episode just in time for the release of her new book BLOODMOON!!! Happy release day Britney!!! We can't wait for you all to tune in! But first, here's more about Britney: Britney S. Lewis is the award-winning and acclaimed author of The Undead Truth of Us and The Dark Place, both published with Disney Hyperion. She lives in Kansas City. You can follow Britney on her quickly growing TikTok account, where she loves talking about author success stories, book tropes, and connecting with readers. About BLOODMOON: You and I both know this ends in blood... Eighteen-year-old Mirabella “Mira” Owens grew up in Timber Plains, Kansas hearing all about the local legend—that werewolves had, many years ago, traveled to their small Midwest town to protect humans from the growing threat of a vampire enclave. Just a story of course, a fairy tale, one Mira had stopped believing in when she was young—just like she stopped believing in the idea of her mom returning, after she up and left without a trace when she was only thirteen.Mira is grown up now, starting freshman year at the nearby Lakeland University. College feels normal, exactly the thing she’s been craving most... except for one particular classmate: Julian Santos, a mysterious boy with long hair, golden eyes, and a coldness that seems directed exclusively at Mira for reasons she can’t understand and he won’t explain. When Mira receives an unaddressed letter from her mother, she’s told the world isn’t as it seems. She suspects her mom might be telling the truth when she stumbles across strange animal tracks on a hiking trail, and when she’s miraculously saved from a twenty foot drop by the one and only, Julian Santos. The problem? Julian would have had to jump the length of the cliff to catch her, making him incredibly fast and strong beyond belief. When she confronts him about this, he denies everything. But when a Blood Moon rises, Mira soon finds herself caught in the middle of an ancient, magical war, with Julian on the other side of the line. She discovers there’s much more truth to the old town legends than she could ever have anticipated—and her family’s historic role in it will change her world forever.BLOOD MOON is a dark and thrilling, intensely romantic ride, a fresh take on a werewolf love story for a new generation of paranormal romance readers, and is the first book in a series. It is set against a high-stakes paranormal backdrop—a world ripe with secret identities, rich supernatural lore, and a forbidden romance... that comes with a deadly bite. Staying Present & Positive in the Unpredictable Publishing Wilds with Ines Ayala

Endless waiting, silences and just the general feeling of banging your head against the brick wall. Sound familiar? You're not alone. A career in publishing is tough. So how do you stick the course? How do you keep going in the face of long silences and periods of constant rejection? We are so lucky to talk to the shining star that is Ines Ayala @byinesayala. One of our oldest and dearest cheerleaders for Of the Publishing Persuasion. Come join us as we get deep and talk all things writing journey and how to stay present and positive in the unpredictable publishing wilds. We can't wait for you to tune in, but first, here's more about Ines: Ines Ayala is a children’s book writer who crafts voicy and immerseive teen novels and heartwarming picture books. A lifelong storyteller (and self-proclaimed comma abuser), she was longlisted for the 2020 Voyage YA Literary Magazine short story contest for young adult contemporary fiction. Passionate about diverse representation in children’s literature, she balances her writing with roles as a Regional Marketing Manager for a K–12 curriculum publisher and Communications Manager for the Latinx Kidlit Book Festival. Her love for words led her to a marketing degree in 2019, but stories have always been her true calling. You can also find her work in Parents Magazine, where she turns moments of personal growth into (hopefully) helpful anecdotes for parents. Born and raised on Long Island, she lives there with her daughter and their dog, Rocky—affectionately nicknamed Pollo for his irrational fears (including his own shadow) and his undying love for anything chicken-related. Follow her on Instagram and Bluesky @byinesayala or subscribe to her Substack for inspiration for your own writing journey! https://www.inesayala.com/ #OfthePublishingPersuasion #podcast #Publishing #writingcommunity #writingpodcast #Bookish #Bookstagram #podcastsforwriters #writingpodcast #authortube #authorsofinstagram #authorssupportingauthors #authorsofig #authorscommunity #writersofinstagram #writerspodcast #writeradvice #podcasting #podcasts #podcastersofinstagram #podcastlife #Kidlit #ChildrensBooks #latinxbooks #latinxwriters #latinxauthors #latinxinpublishing #LatinxStorytellersConference #LatinxKidLit #KidLitFestival
