5 Practices for Pushing Through the Awkwardness of Making New Friends

5 Practices for Pushing Through the Awkwardness of Making New Friends

There’s no denying it. Nearly every step of the friend-making process has elements of awkwardness. It’s awkward to talk to new people. It’s awkward to walk into a room where you feel like everyone else knows someone but you. It’s awkward to ask for contact info after just meeting someone. It’s awkward to extend an invite to someone you hardly know to get together. But the truth is: If we value friendship, we value avoiding awkwardness more. It’s better to embrace it and push through. And, in this episode, I’ll share 5 practices for how you can do just that.

The Fear of Rejection is REAL. But How Likely is it to ACTUALLY Happen!?

The Fear of Rejection is REAL. But How Likely is it to ACTUALLY Happen!?

One of the scariest things about making friends is you put yourself out then not be accepted. Either the person you want to be friends with is too busy, or feels like she has too many friends already, or just isn’t interested in a friendship with you. The fear of rejection is certainly real, but how common is it, really? In this episode I share my own story of being “rejected” and what helped me move forward and continue to put myself out there, and how you can too.

Community is everything as a mama!

I feel like Emily sees me! Community is so important as a mama, but in our busy lives it can be challenging! She provides simple tips that make seeking out community & creating a tribe which have been easy to implement and impacted my life as a habit!

A true gift

I absolutely love this podcast and Emily. A lot of times, the advise you get on making new friends is very high level and not actionable. Often, it actually makes you feel worse since it makes it sound so easy, and you feel like you are failing. But Emily actually lays out what to do and what to say and I am so grateful I stumbled across her and her podcast.
