Why are we so afraid to talk about calories‪?‬ The Diet Diaries

Today’s episode may feel a little controversial and unexpected because I’m talking about calories.


And to be honest, I’ve been afraid to talk about this. Because we automatically label anything to do with calories as “bad” or as promoting diet culture.


But it’s just not that simple. Because calories are about science. Our bodies were designed to require calories to survive. 


The issue is the meaning and emotion we’ve assigned to them that becomes the problem.


So today I’m talking about what calories are, why and when they matter, why and when they don’t matter and why we are so obsessed with them. 


Because ultimately this about helping you rediscover your autonomy. Giving you the knowledge you need to make informed, thoughtful, intentional choices around your body. 


So today’s episode gives some simple education around what calories are as well as some skills around how to shift the intense emotions we have around them.
