Welcome to Why We Run! My name is Beth Baker, and I am a running coach and owner of Running Evolution in Seattle. I coach new runners, but what I really do is chat them up to distract them from well…running. Before I was a running coach, I was an audio engineer. This has been a dream of mine for years, and I have loved the whole process and learned a lot. I love talking about music, art and what it means to be a human while running, and this podcast is dedicated to that, while people are actually running. Its steeped in heavy breathing and the footsteps set the rhythm to the conversations. My goal is to get a van and talk and run with runners from across the country, across the political landscapes and across the spectrum to see what makes them tick. https://runningevolution.com/

So relatable! It’s WHY we run!!

The first guest, Kelly, everything that came out of her mouth could have come out of my own. Started running in college because I wasn’t doing sports anymore and needed to move (except in my case I also got fat and therefore motivated), stopped running when I had kids (like Kelly, my first two were also 21 months apart), then was inspired to run again by my first invite to a Ragnar team. I, too, was seeking community and knew that my mental health and overall well-being was much better when I exercised. My husband started noticing this, too, and would kick me out the door with my running shoes! Anyway, bravo, Beth Baker!!!👏👏👏👏🙌

Inspiring

I just listened to episode 2 and have never been more inspired to run. Listening to runners across a spectrum of talent not only run, but be vulnerable enough to talk on podcast while doing so is inspiring. That inspiration and motivation applies direclty to running but also tranlates to other areas of my life. Just get out there and do it. Nice work Beth, I can't wait to see where this takes us.

Friends in your ear on the run

Hit play and hit the road and you’ve got a ready to go running group. Beth’s guests are “people like you” and make you realize that real runners aren’t just the athletes we see in the public eye but the real life people who make this an inclusive, welcoming community and sport. Run with us!
