Wildland Firefighter Mental Health with Close the Gap Wellness Mountain Mind Tricks Podcast

    • Alternative Health

Join Thomas, Anne, and Dani Shedden as we discuss what it takes to be healthy in wildland fire.

Dani explores the CISM, CBT therapy, and why mental health is physical too. We talk about gut health, PT, bodywork, acupuncture, and meditation. We discuss the grief process and why acceptance and surrender can create powerful healing. We go deep into why building your team of supporters is so important.

”Yeah, and you know there’s no real answer or timeframe of how someone’s gonna handle grief or how it’s gonna impact them, and what I will say is when we go through something traumatic or we have a loss and we’re grieving that. As clinicians, the biggest thing that we do is listen and support and understand the grief cycle. There’s no real order in how we grieve. I think that some losses we have we will feel for our whole lives. It’s how we handle that loss and how we allow ourselves some space to grieve and then how we seek treatment.”
