Willemijn’s background comes from business. She started her career at Phillips before working with businesses on their social responsibility at Dutch NGOs Switch and Natuur en Milieu.

Willemijn is also the ocean ambassador of the Netherlands, and is currently advising the UN on their negotiations for a global plastics treaty.
