    Ambassador Stories: Unexpected Gratitude

    Ambassador Stories: Unexpected Gratitude

As we straddle the dates between Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, we decided to highlight both with a unique episode. We’re hearing short stories from a handful of ambassadors about things they are unexpectedly thankful for this year. The reason for this is that so many of the guest on Without Compromise have mentioned gratitude as being one of their best daily practices or something that helps them live Without Compromise.
We’ll also be hearing from our Director of Operations and veteran, Chris Kallam, about our Veterans Day beer, Ready Front, which is still available at AthleticBrewing.com.

    Mike Chambers: Beat Monday

    Mike Chambers: Beat Monday

Summiting mountains in South America, bikepacking in the desert, and climbing classic big wall routes sound like epic adventures that you’d have to save lots of vacation days for, right? The travel alone would take up at least a day or two, especially for any international trips. Not to mention making arrangements for other responsibilities like kids, pets, work, etc.
Mike Chambers and his adventure partner, Jason Antin, think otherwise. In fact, they think you can leave the office on Friday at 5pm, have an adventure of a lifetime and be back at work at 9am on Monday. Is it easy? Of course not. Is it worth it? C’mon now.
It all started when Mike was living in Boston and Jason was based in Colorado and the two came up with the bright idea of summiting Mt. Rainier in a true weekend. To the astonishment of the park rangers that hesitantly granted them the permit, their plan worked. Although the morning meetings that Monday were not as productive as they usually were, they both walked away with a pretty epic response to the age-old question, “what did you do this weekend?”
Once the concept of Beat Monday was proven, Jason and Mike began dreaming of what else could be possible with this format. Bikerafting, big wall climbing, ultrarunning, and international travel began to fill their weekends and was even made into an OutsideTV series, Beat Monday.
Mike is joining us today to tell us about what he’s learned through the Beat Monday mindset and what’s possible for you to beat whatever your Monday is.

    Maddie Stambaugh: IRONMAN Finisher

    Maddie Stambaugh: IRONMAN Finisher

Finishing an IRONMAN is at the very top of many endurance athletes’ bucket lists. It’s a daunting goal to put all the training, logistical, and motivational pieces together to pull off such an extreme athletic achievement.
For Maddie, it was the ultimate athletic experience. Being a marathoner, she had a leg up on folks starting from scratch, but running is still only one-third of the skills you need for a triathlon, so the math was still against her.
Despite many setbacks and many times she could have logically bowed out of training and preparation, Maddie continued through every challenge, all the way up to race day (the ocean waves were crazy!). After 140.6 miles she heard those fateful words, “You are an IRONMAN!”.
Listen in to hear the biggest lessons that Maddie learned in preparation and on race day, and what it takes to finish an IRONMAN without compromise.

Hailey Hosler: Being Sober in the Service Industry + The NA Beer Mile

Hailey Hosler: Being Sober in the Service Industry + The NA Beer Mile

Hailey grew up in the service industry going to music festivals with her family’s coffee shop as a kid. When she got older she began getting more involved, fell in love with making elaborate mixed drinks, and even opened her own restaurant at one point. So when Hailey decided to cut out alcohol from her life it felt like a part of her went missing. When it came to her passion for mixology and cocktails, she didn’t look for a light at the end of the tunnel because she didn’t realize there was even one there. Did that passion have to just disappear now?
Hailey began to realize that there were tons of folks in her shoes. People who loved the energy and excitement around the service industry but decided to give alcohol the boot, yet still maintained their passion for the work they did. Slowly but surely, Hailey realized her passions were not only still accessible to her, but in a completely new, fresh, and healthy way.
We’re telling Hailey’s story today in celebration of Sober October. Whether you’re cutting out alcohol for one drink, one night, one month, or forever, this episode is for you!

    Non-Alcoholic Beer Mile
Also, as a bonus segment of the episode, we’re chatting with Chris Robertson of BeerMile.com to talk about the launch of their newest category, the Non-Alcoholic Beer Mile.
We know the beer mile is a time-honored tradition for so many runners and as the leading non-alcoholic craft brewery in the US, we wanted to provide a more inclusive and responsible way for runners to participate in the event -- even if they choose not to drink alcohol. That’s why on October 17th at 12:30 pm you can join us in our hometown of Stratford, Connecticut to launch the new Non-Alcoholic Beer Mile category! Whether you’re a spectator or runner, come on out and enjoy the event where Athletic Brewing, Fleet Feet, and HOKA will be awarding prizes as well as a grand total of $2,000 in cash prizes up for grabs!
