In the Spring 2024 semester, WMUA News reporter Dan Distefano reported on the prevalence of loneliness – a concern that has garnered the attention of the US Surgeon General. He met with senior Public Health majors and the UMass Title IX Training Specialist to discuss the societal contributors to loneliness and what changes can be made to mitigate feelings of loneliness. On February 23rd of 2024, the bands Native Sun, Dead Tooth, and The Baxbys performed at the Drake for a New York themed show. WMUA News Editor Ariana Gonzalez sat down with all of the bands to discuss their music trajectory, their musical roots and how their sound is reflected within their music.

On October 21st 2023, WMUA held their annual battle of the bands. WMUA news reporter Gwen Van Allen interviewed the bands Fishtube, Catshack, and Sapien Joyride to discuss their music and the shifting demographics of the local music scene

Last year, WMUA News Editor Ariana Gonzalez and News Correspondent Xavier Neil interviewed Georgia Institute of Technology professor and author of Distributed Blackness, Andre Brock Jr. on the Black digital space, what it looks like, the problems it faces, and where it's going.

On October 21st, WMUA hosted the Battle of the Bands concert at the Drake in Downtown Amherst. 6 bands from the five colleges gathered to compete for a chance to open for the WMUA Fall Concert.



Before the show, WMUA News Reporter Aidan Sabine sat down with the bands Ravenous Conglomerate, Leadheads, and B&, to learn about their history and influences, and hear their feelings before the show.
