Episode 7 Burnout in Medicine: Signs, and how to find Freedom and Autonomy.

Episode 7 Burnout in Medicine: Signs, and how to find Freedom and Autonomy.

In today's video/podcast we are talking about the signs and symptoms of burnout, and how burnout in medicine can manifest.  Burnout in family medicine is common, but also in many other specialty fields, and the number of doctors and healthcare providers facing burnout is rising, particularly in women.    As women in medicine, we talk with out patients about mental health awareness but often don't make it a priority for ourselves.  The increasing lack of freedom and autonomy in medicine, alongside the increasing demands put on providers is the perfect recipe for burnout.   Check out this episode to learn the many different faces of burnout, as well as some resources and ideas to help you slow down and reset if you are facing burnout in medicine.  Topics discussed include the use of FMLA, physician led coaching and/or life coaching, being a self-advocate, setting boundaries, transitioning and exploring other income streams, and more!

Episode 6: True Passive Income for doctors through Real Estate Investing with Dr. Nancy

Episode 6: True Passive Income for doctors through Real Estate Investing with Dr. Nancy

True Passive Income through Real Estate Investing with Dr. Nancy Huynh.  We are all looking for true passive income, real estate can be tricky though- as women in medicine do we have time to be a landlord or a property manager? Not usually.  But if we have the money to make a downpayment for an investment property we could consider being part of a real estate syndicate.  In this episode I interview Dr. Nancy Huynh.  Dr. Nancy Huynh shares how she began investing in real estate while working as a busy opthalmologist.  Nancy started investing in real estate to create passive income, hoping to regain control of her time and stop trading time for money- don't we all want that?  She currently owns and operates a real estate investment portfolio in the Atlanta area and founded Clear Vision Investing to not only grow her own portfolio, but also to help others realize the power of real estate investing. She is passionate about helping others, especially female physicians, gain financial literacy and achieve financial security.  Check out her business at: clearvisioninvesting.com My links

    Episode 5: Elisa Chiang

    Episode 5: Elisa Chiang

Episode 5: Elisa Chiang- Money Mindset training for Women in Medicine.  As doctors, we get no training on money management, setting healthy financial goals, portfolio management, or even having good negotiation skills.   We might experience divorce, financial hardship with extended family, practice failures, or other money mindset challenges, so it's best to have continued check-ins on our finances and ensure we have a good backup plan.  As women in medicine, we face gender inequality in our pay and could benefit from better negotiation in that department.  We also need to be sure we avoid the arrival fallacy of always waiting for that perfect pay structure to arrive.
So in this episode, we discuss:

the importance of, and what is, a healthy money mindset
    setting up financial check-ins
    how to become financially literate
what strategies to avoid in financial planning
    gender pay inequality in medicine
the importance of good negotiation skills
