Women in WW2 at home in Britain had their lives turned upside down. Anna Parker-Naples shares her research and creative writing process as she creates her first novel based on events that happened in her home town Leighton Buzzard, Q-Central and nearby Bletchley Park. From the factory girls at Gossards who made the parachutes for Spitfires, to the Land Girls who fell in love with POW's and the WAAF's and WRN's billeted in the town alongside thousands of East End evacuees, Anna's intention is to share the bits that inspire her work, but may not get included in the final manuscript. As a writer on the prestigious Faber Academy writers course, Anna will share the journey from idea, to first draft, revisions, the search for an agent and traditional book publishing deal, and beyond.     One of the good things about my experience at the Faber academy is that we get to turn in submissions from our drafts for agents and publishers to look at. It really pushes me to challenge myself, and see just how much my writing career is progressing.     The path to your first novel is never a smooth one. There are times when you’ll experience the words flow, and other times you’ll run into the writer's block. This is why I’ll be discussing the realities of writing a novel, the emotional highs and lows I’ve faced during my writing experience so far, and how I manage the writer’s block each time it comes.     As I round up my course at Faber Academy, I’ve noticed just how much growth I’ve experienced on my writing journey. I realised the progress I’ve made in deciding what should go into my book, and the best ways to create my characters in the level of depth that I want for each of them. So in today’s episode, I want to share with you an overview of my writing journey so far, and the new ideas I’ve got while getting to know the characters of my book.
