Great podcast with reservations

Excellent podcast! Great interviews and top notch speakers. JJ tends to dominate the conversation. I suggest she ask more questions rather than share from her personal life as much. Overall it’s a helpful and insightful podcast and would recommend it!

JJ is not a therapist.

On a recent episode, Doug attributed his overall happiness on whether he was getting regular sex, with the takeaway that women should give men sex, so to speak, to keep “their man” happy. I was relieved when JJ jumped in with a caveat; I figured she would talk about the emotional health of the relationship and women’s need to feel emotionally safe to want to have sex, often.

But instead her caveat was that men need to be skilled in giving sexual pleasure if they expect “their woman” to want to have sex with them, and that if men just became skilled in sex, then women would want to have sex with them all the time.

This is such a blatant oversimplification of the emotional complexity of relationships that I shut off the episode and unsubscribed from the podcast. Doug and JJ may be experts in their respective fields, but they are clearly not experts on relationships nor are they trained therapists.

Talking about Sex

I loved this episode! I ordered a few of the books you suggested JJ and I’m so excited to dive into this journey of sensual enlightenment. ♥️ I learn so much from the two of you and love the light hearted energy Doug brings to each show. Please keep suggesting resources they’re awesome and just what I’m looking for. Also, I would definitely be interested in longer episodes with you two! I’m always left wanting more. Love you guys! ♥️ 🤗
