A Change Will Do You Good - My Conversation with Susan Haworth

Hey Redesigners and welcome to another episode of Women Over 50 - A Life Redesigned.
I am your host Shelly Drymon and this is the podcast where I have conversations with women over 50 who are in the world doing amazing things, and busting through the stereotypes of what it means to be a woman over 50 today.
My guest today is Susan Haworth. Susan has been providing counseling, coaching and consulting for four decades with a host of clients and customers in a variety of settings on both the East and West Coasts.
You can find out more about Susan and grab here book on her https://www.cambioscoaching.com/ (website. )
After receiving her B.A. in Psychology and M.Ed. in Community Counseling, Susan worked in mental health facilities in Atlanta, GA providing counseling to adult substance abusers and adolescents and their families. Taking a sabbatical from direct service, Susan segued her career into managing social service programs.
When the 80’s hit, Susan headed back to school and earned an M.S. in Management which she parlayed into a corporate training and consulting business. As the principal of her consulting practice, Susan provided communication skills training programs and individual coaching for Fortune 500 companies and their managers.
Being in the epicenter of technology (the San Francisco Bay Area), Susan seized another opportunity to reinvent herself. In 2017, she decided to go world-wide by providing coaching and consulting via Skype.
Cambios (changes in Spanish) Coaching and Consulting seemed like the ideal moniker under which to operate. Changes are what Susan’s life has been about as she moved from coast to coast; married, divorced and remarried; wrangled with single parenting and step-parenting; changed careers; made new friends and continues to turn things inside out.

Embracing the Silver - My Conversation with Robin Salls

Embracing the Silver - My Conversation with Robin Salls

Hey Redesigners and welcome to another episode of Women Over 50 - A Life Redesigned.

Robin Salls is the Founder and Publisher of https://www.tangledsilvermagazine.com/ (Tangled Silver Magazine), a magazine by and for silver sisters around the globe changing the narrative of how beauty and aging is defined.
She’s had a hidden love affair with silver hair for as long as she can remember prompted by brushing her grandmother’s white hair and stints as a CNA in a skilled nursing facility that gave her an appreciation for the wisdom that comes with aging. She’d get lost in the stories of travel and history shared by the women with silver strands. But, in 1980 something… allowing your silvers to come through was taboo.
In 2012, Robin combined her love for wine and connecting women together over shared passions into an event planning business that led to the creation of Sip On Life, a magazine where she shared stories of women winemakers around the globe. She’d found her calling in connecting women together through written word.
By 2018 she was growing tired of being told she had to keep dyeing her hair to stay young and relevant. She started searching for inspiration and when she couldn’t find exactly what she was looking for, her passion for her new found silvers and writing led to the creation of Tangled Silver Magazine.
The magazine launched January 2021 as a love letter to the silver haired community. The response was magical causing Robin to throw caution to the wind and lean fully into creating a magazine to embrace, celebrate and inspire women around the globe embracing their silver and the silver lifestyle that comes with it. Through TSMAG and the movement she created #iamsilverbeauty she’s breaking barriers with a message for women. Embrace you. Celebrate her. Be inspired.
She’s inspired by the women she meets daily stepping into their silvers and defining their own definition of beautiful and is grateful for the She-Pack writers that contribute quarterly to make Tangled Silver Magazine a magazine by and for women around the globe.
Robin lives in Colorado with her husband and fur babies. Her free time is spent lost in the mountains, playing superheros with her grandsons or enjoying a nice sipping tequila. And, if you ask her what is the best compliment she’s received since letting her silver strands shine…”my grandsons think I have Elsa hair. It doesn’t get any more magical than that!”

Kate is a coach who combines storytelling with coaching to empower women in the workplace. Stories are a brilliant way of taking yourself slightly out of the emotional centre and regarding it from a distance. It really helps to see the situation more clearly.
Kate grew up in a theatre family. Her grandfather was an émigré from Poland who started a theatre as a business venture and there they all stayed. Kate's dad and uncle ran repertory and commercial theatres. Her mum was an actress. Her sister is a theatre company manager, and her husband an actor and her daughter a theatre director.
Kate worked in stage management in repertory theatre for five years then moved to London where she fell into work by luck with the National Theatre and her first job was on a Harold Pinter play with Sir John Gielgud and Sir Ralph Richardson. She worked at the National Theatre, Old Vic, Young Vic and then in musicals. On the 20th Century, Barnum, Camelot, Phantom and latterly at Les Miserables while her twins were small. She was there for nearly 5 years. Company managed the 10th anniversary concert at the Albert Hall and later show called the 25th anniversary concerts of Les Mis and Phantom.
The way you think affects the way you behave, affects the way you feel, affects the outcome. The thoughts changes. The behavior changes, the feeling changes, and it changes the outcome, and it is actually that simple. ~ KateFor more information about Kate check out her http://katesalberg.co.uk/ (website.)

Kriste O’Brien grew up in Maine and resided in Boston for over 20 years. She now lives in New Hampshire with her husband and three children. When Kriste is not working her day job in higher education, she enjoys hiking in the White Mountains, running on her local rail trail, attending concerts, and traveling to new places. After the death of her mother, Kriste has focused on honoring her memory by setting and achieving once unimaginable goals: whitewater rafting, running a marathon, earning her Master’s degree, learning Spanish, climbing tall mountains, and writing a book!
Kriste wrote Fat Mom on a Mountain as a motivation to get off the couch, face her fears, and memorialize her 50th birthday. Her memoir is an honest portrayal of a mother who is trying to find herself by peeling away the layers that are no longer serving her life. It is her first book.

So. I wrote the book to write all of that down. So other women didn't feel like dried prunes found out they were going through menopause. So they understood that it could happen a lot earlier than we think it's going to happen, that it doesn't diminish our value in any shape or form ~ Rachel
I was no less of a sexy, vibrant woman than I'd ever been. I was of no less value in the world than I'd ever been. But I allowed that diagnosis of early menopause to completely change how I felt about myself. ~ RachelRachel Lankester is the author of Magnificent Midlife: Transform Your Middle Years, Menopause and Beyond, a midlife mentor and founder of Magnificent Midlife, an online hub celebrating and empowering women 40+. She’s on a mission to change how society perceives women, and how women perceive themselves, through midlife and beyond. After the shock of being diagnosed as post menopause at 41, she created an online community to support midlife women, The Mutton Club online magazine, and the Magnificent Midlife Podcast. She reveals and celebrates the positive midlife experience, helping midlife women get unstuck, so they can transform their lives. Anti-anti-aging! Wow!

This episode was over the top great! I’ve had a gut feeling that I wasn’t comfortable with “anti-aging” campaigns but this convo with Barbie Liss blew me away and I had a definite AHA moment! The talk about “boys will be boys” was also enlightening! Thank you shelly for bringing these beautiful women and messages to the spotlight!
